How to Disrupt Thatcher's Funeral

Michael Dickinson | 14.04.2013 22:04 | London

SHOUT! The world will be listening.

You may not be able to get very close to the actual route, but you may be able to get quite close, and remember that the area will be quite silent, with no traffic. Gather in parks, squares and streets in groups or alone and break the silence. Your raised voices will carry far. Sing repeatedly the song 'DING DONG, THE WITCH İS DEAD!' at the tops of your voices, and other chants such as "ONE SOLUTION - REVOLUTION!"

You may be arrested under section 5 of the Public Order Act. for causing "harassment, alarm or distress" but if you plead 'not guilty the case may be dismissed -  http://www.counterpunch.org/2012/09/21/shout-case-dismissed/

Privileged guests start arriving at St. Paul's Cathedral at 10 am. Even if you can't see them, let them hear you.

The funeral cortege is expected to take 19 minutes to reach the Cathedral from Westminster. Let your voices echo in the air along the way. Sing. Shout. SHOUT! The world will be listening.

Military Bands

15.04.2013 08:53

According to the press there will be military bands accompanying the coffin, so not sure it will be silent. Visual protests may be more effective, and as the police have said, they don't have the numbers to search everyone along the route.

Amplify your voice

15.04.2013 09:14

A useful tactic that media pixies employed at Millbank and other student protests is to find live media crews, SKY, BBC, ITN etc. wait until they're ready with their anchor/dummy/stooges and then heckle them live on air. Have a point that you want to make. Keep it concise. Keep it revolutionary.

Hearing insurrectionary slogans on SKY TV guarantees satisfaction.

So, happy riddance

15.04.2013 09:18

Here's a great singalong number called 'Merry Christmas Maggie Thatcher' from the musical 'Billy Elliot'.
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NWB5wdDAyQ

The chorus could be adapted to something like -

So happy riddance Maggie Thatcher
May God's love be with you
We all sing together in one breath
Happy riddance Maggie Thatcher
We all celebrate today
'Cause you finally met up with your death

Possible police raids

15.04.2013 15:12

The local evening paper is reporting possible police raids. I thought they had just been spanked by the courts about this.

 http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/police-raids-to-target-known-troublemakers-ahead-of-margaret-thatchers-funeral-8573414.html

This political policing is illegal, it fails the Human Rights Act.

arrest tony blair

15.04.2013 20:09

Tony Blair will be at the funeral at St. Paul's. It would be good if chants like "ARREST TONY BLAIR! HE'S IN THERE!" or something like that, could be heard by guests arriving at the cathedral for the service in the morning.

Even from the other side of the Thames, outside the Saatchi Gallery, a chanting group could be audible quite easily (and be able to scarper and regroup if approached by police.)
