So i typed "Chagos" into a search engine

It was neither difficult or complicated. I found that "Officially part of the British Indian Ocean Territory, the Chagos Islands were home to the Chagossians for more than a century and a half until the United Kingdom evicted them in the early 1970s in order to allow the United States to build a military base on Diego Garcia, the largest of the Chagos Islands. Since 1971, only the atoll of Diego Garcia is inhabited, and only by military and civilian contracted personnel."

There's lots more if you are really curious, not just bitching. You could read all about it.

History not your best subject?

Since the Chagossians were expelled between 1967 and 1973, when Harold Wilson and then Ted Heath were Prime Minister, any connection with Baroness Thatcher is tenuous, to say the least. Then there were High Court cases between 2006 and 2008 under Labour.
