Why is there not more celebrating ?

Thatcher is dead and yet there is hardly any celebrating ? Why not ?

Aside from a few posts her and a couple of hundred in London and Scotland I see no real celebrating and yet this was probably the most hated person of the 20th Century who systematicly tried to ethnicly clean the Working Class in this country.

I have tried to organise a party but noone is interested. And yet this was a person who tried to kill all the miners, who destroyed the shipbuilding industry, slashed the NHS and helped to lead to the demise of Soviet Communism, the great hope of the world.

Why are we not all on the streets ?

In simple terms because despite some of the rhetoric here over the last few days the fact is that just about everybody is now better off as a result of the changes in society that she introduced. Yes there were casualties such as the miners (although I for one a glad that men no longer go underground ) but the UK is certainly a better country these days compared to what it was like before her.

No 3 day week
No evening power cuts
No Trade Unions who think they run the country
Health Service funded better than it has ever been
Benefits the highest in history
No totalitarian empire pointing nuclear weapons at us
The greatest percentage of the population able to access higher education ever

I think what upsets the Left more than anything about her was that she was right and they were wrong

Because most working class people have jobs

11.04.2013 07:26

And haven't got time to spend their days partying over Thatcher's death. Make no mistake they will be shedding no tears for her though.

Sorry but it's been mostly middle class students who haven't got jobs who've been out on the streets partying.

Mods, can you please hide or get rid of the glut of Daily Mail links which are being posted here by Tory supporters please.

We should not be providing free traffic to this odious publication.

Liverpool, Glasgow, Newcastle, London, Bristol, Leeds, etc.
And those are just some of the ones the press covered. Pubs round the country were rammed.

Best Way to Celebrate Death of Thatcher

11.04.2013 10:00

The only successful mass action against Thatcher's dictatorship was the Anti-Poll Tax campaign which helped bring her down. Now we should stop paying Council Tax as a way of creating a financial crisis for local councils and thus a big problem for the Coalition. Anyone can do it. Cancel your payments today!

Possible reason

I think to most younger people she was largely unknown. I am 23 and she has never been a factor in my life, just another person from history.
