Bankrupt country can afford lavish funeral

O.o | 10.04.2013 10:50

After the witch's long overdue death this week, William Hague has defended the public cost of the funeral, saying that Britain can "afford" to contribute. The tories insist we all tighten our belts and that there simply isn't money to provide vital services to maintain basic standards of living and keep people out of poverty. But they can afford to shell out millions to lavishly bury one of their own.

Hague tried to justify it by saying that "the rebate she negotiated for this country from the EU has brought us so far £75bn ... I think that puts money in perspective." He failed to mention that the twin crises of housing and jobs our country faces are direct results of Thatcher's deindustrialisation and right to buy policies. She closed the factories and mines, sending her riot coppers in to batter anyone who disagreed, and sold off the country's stock of housing. Blair continued what she had started and now we find ourselves in this mess, and we're told that cuts are the only solution.

So cut the funeral!!

parliament reopening

The tories are also today holding a mass back-slapping session at parliament. A £2.5million pot of public money has been made available for MPs to jet it back from their sunny beach holidays, along with tens of thousands in additional costs to run parliament. The commons were due to reopen next monday anyway.
