Baroness Thatcher - have a word with the Daily Mail

Final Destination | 09.04.2013 09:25 | Public sector cuts | Social Struggles

The same newspaper that famously cried "Hurrah for the Blackshirts", and whose website praised the Nazi slogan "Arbeit Macht Frei", are advertising a form through which readers can request a state funeral for Margaret Thatcher. Have a word...

The Daily Blackshirt
The Daily Blackshirt

The Tory party turned on Margaret Thatcher and forced her out of office when the meglomania and authoritarianism that she'd inflicted on British people found realisation in the Poll Tax, which, lest we forget, sought to impose a huge tax on voting, to exclude large sections of British society – the actual victims of Thatcherism – from the democratic process.

During the Falklands War, both France and Chile assisted Britain, but, while Thatcher famously despised the French who'd helped her, it was the affection she retained for Chilean dictator General Pinochet which exposes the real psychopathy of Thatcherite politics.

General Pinochet imprisoned, tortured and murdered men, women and children, and wrote the script for Thatcherite politics, killing trades unionists, radicals and even liberal opponents, then defining the monetarist blueprint, which spread world-wide, leading directly to the grand-theft capitalism which invests more in war than healthcare, and which robs taxpayers to prop-up banks whose corruption was legislated by the regimes that copied the monetarist experiment.

In the UK the NHS is blamed for the crime of suffering decades of deliberate mismanagement, of privatisation and of systematic underfunding, and, while OUR parents and grandparents pass-on in conditions of sometimes parlous misery, in the ultimate insult to those she abused, Thatcher dies in a fucking suite in The Ritz!

The same newspaper whose aristocratic proprietor famously cried "Hurrah for the Blackshirts" before WW2, and whose website recently praised the Nazi slogan "Arbeit Macht Frei", are advertising a form through which readers can request a state funeral for Margaret Thatcher, saying "If you believe Lady Thatcher deserves a state funeral... just sign this online petition or print out the form... We will pass it to the Prime Minister's office". Let the Daily Blackshirt know exactly what you think of being asked to pay for Thatcher's final trip (if you wish, use IP shielding, and consider submitting someone like Nick Clegg's e-mail address) -

I don't get any of this.

As an Anarchist I feel that this whole thing surrounding Thatcher's death is very primitive and backward. On the one hand we have the ultra-right desperately attempting to shed tears at her passing (no tears actually form however, psychopaths and the criminally insane do not possess empathy and so cannot cry), and on the other hand we have the ultra-left snorting its own blood in hatred at "Tories" and anything connected to them.

Thatcher was simply Washington's man in London. All Thatcher did was enable the US war against protectionism in order to force complete freedom of free-trade in the UK. Every policy Thatcher enacted came originally from Washington. There was not so much as a single policy that she originated off her own back. The Unions were destroyed because they were preventing that free-trade regime from forming. Social housing was destroyed in principle as well as fact to enable the financial instruments that would allow the UK banking industry to adopt US policies of free-trade. Economic protectionism in government policy was destroyed to create a UK legislature that would legislate for the policies of free-trade. Privatisation of the UK business and industrial sector was enabled to allow US corporations access to the UK's infrastructure to allow for synchronisation of the US and UK systems of free-trade. Everything Thatcher advocated throughout the entirety of her political life was absolutely inline with US foreign policy. her apparent resolve was not a personal quality, it was loyalism to the US.

There is no discussion of this! The Daily Mail and ALL UK newspapers are not allowing discussion of this! Even Indymedia is being turned away from discussion of this!

It is clear, that as Anarchists, we must take this opportunity to deal with the totalitarian nature of what passes for debate in the UK now. The only real legacy of Thatcher's policies in the UK during her time are that the UK people have been stupified and encouraged to abandon intelligent debate about Britains role in the world. We saw this in Thatchers time, we saw it in Blairs time. Stupidity rules the roost.

The only thing Parliament has to offer these days, is division. The real measure of success that Parliament holds itself to is how capable political figures are in dividing UK society and the people from one another. Thatcher did this to kill opposition to US free-trade being enacted in the UK. Blair took this one step further by dividing the UK people in order to commit atrocities in Iraq for the exact same reasons.

Britain has no future under this model. Parliament must not be allowed a future under this model.

Replying to comment above, if you think Indymedia "is being turned away from discussion of" whatever, with respect you don't seem to have understood what Indymedia actually is. Indymedia is (quote) a "network of individuals" who post-up material about whatever issues concern them, so, if you feel an issue is being neglected, then add to your comment by posting-up your own article about whatever concerns you.

Either way, huge sections of the community are united in opposition to being forced to live with Thatcher's legacy, and this is a time to unite that opposition and not the best time to get on the soap-box about anarchism (not least because the "Young Turks" of Thatcherist ideology sometimes [mis]described their philosophy as "Anarcho-Capitalism" [sic])

Its not often (nor very polite) that I can answer somebody else's point with a simple cut and paste but here goes...

---Thatcher did this to kill opposition to US free-trade being enacted in the UK. Blair took this one step further by dividing the UK people in order to commit atrocities in Iraq for the exact same reasons.---

Given that the only current political options in the UK, are the very same options that brought about the above, can you enlighten us on exactly what you mean by "unite that opposition"?

If you answer Labour, then can you tell me how hard your planned pogrom will be?

miners

09.04.2013 16:50

A taxi driver, David Wilkie, was killed on 30 November 1984. He had been taking a non-striking miner to work in the Merthyr Vale Colliery, South Wales when two striking miners dropped a concrete post onto his car from a road bridge above. He died at the scene. The two miners served a prison sentence for manslaughter.

Miners murdered an innocent, hard working, working-class taxi driver because he was legally taking a miner who decided he wanted to work instead on go on an illegal strike that their members didn't even have a chance to vote on.

Oh look another excuse to loot! Half of these people weren't even born when she was in power and the other half weren't probably voting age. Whatever you think of someone the thought of "celebrating" their death is quite repulsive to me. Grow up!!

Why so fearful?

09.04.2013 19:26

its readership (somewhere in the region of 6 million) totally overwhelms Indymedia.
Indymedia isn't even in the same league by a long stretch.

Just look at the comments section on any article on the DM and then compare to this little pip-squeak of a shit.

The long and short of it, is this site is nothing. It goes on and on about the Daily Mail, Yet the Daily Mail probably doesn't even know this site even exists!! lol

@Win - Yes the Daily Mail is more powerful than Indymedia, but if the radical movement wasn't a threat to the establishment then the Daily Mail etc wouldn't put such enormous effort into trying to smear and to defame the radical movement. QED

eh

09.04.2013 22:03

Dont know mean: the daily mail is more Popular?
Its more powerful too but that wasnt my point.

Popularity is based upon which website address people type into their browser

Therefore many many many more people choose to go to dm rather than indymedia

Therefore your argument falls flat on its face

Radicalism isnt a threat. It is nusiance like having ants in the kitchen. Put down some poison and they take it back to the nest.... pests gone

Thousands of old folk DIED

09.04.2013 22:09

@Milly (London)

You havn't actually bothered to read the original article have you? You know - the article which points out that Thatcher supported a mass murderer, a torturer and a child killer, which points out that Thatcher fell because she tried to if not totally abolish, then exclude huge sections of society from participating in even any pretense of democracy, which points out that the health "reforms" she initiated condemn the poor to die in misery while she spends her last moments in a luxury hotel?!

Or, maybe I'm wrong, maybe you have read all this, and you still choose to condemn those who celebrate the death of this vicious, evil oppressor?

If that's not good enough for you, thousands of old folk DIED from the MRSA and C-Difficile infections that swept NHS wards after the Tories privatised the cleaning of British hospitals - those people not only included our parents and grandparents, some of those people had fought Fascism in WW2, and all of them had paid into the system all their lives. Do you think there'll be a service of remembrance for those victims of Thatcherism at St Paul's? So far I havn't seen even one word about those deaths in the TV coverage of Margaret Thatcher's "legacy"

As confirmed by high level State / police seminars which discussed the potential of austerity to provoke another... wait for it... Poll Tax Riot, the establishment know full well that even a relatively small group of protestors can (under the right circumstances) make a political regime fall, which of course is also why trolls like you post your bullshit here

I'm glad that you are not a Labour party activist trying to pass yourself off as somebody that wants to unite us just so we can all go out and vote for a political party that will, with surgical precision, repeat the exact same policy as the Conservative's.

And the use of the word "pogrom" denotes what is needed to extricate and remove this public relations minority that seems to have invaded and taken control of the political arena. Don't worry, its not about anything else in case you were wondering. Oi, oi, oi.

So there we go then...enjoy your street parties. I hope it gets a bit warmer for you. Its about time you had some fun.

I've read the Daily Mail and the articles and the comments are feeble-minded crapola of the very worst kind.

What exactly is the point of having a readership of 6 million (probably exaggerated) if every single one of those 6 million are simply reading shite? Its not about whose got the largest member, its about the things you say and the intelligence you have to offer. I, along with pretty much the whole of humanity, don't care if Kate Moss got a slight nicker wedgy as she fell out of a nightclub in a cloud of cocaine one night. I don't care if Cheryl Cole was photographed wearing a lipstick that was technically a tiny bit redder than the one Kate Middleton was wearing seven minutes before, somewhere else.

I just don't care about trivia and being told that there must be something wrong with me if I don't get excited about it.

IMC doesn't have 6 million readers, because it doesn't have 5.99 million people addictively and obsessively swatting up on what colour shoes go best with tartan panty-liners!

But the little bit that we do have...don't half make a difference.

And that, dahhhhling, is the gut of a very expensive garter.

Right wing trolls caught lying, again

10.04.2013 20:16

According to their Wikipedia page, the print circulation of the Daily Nazi is less than 2 million - a fuck of a lot, and 2 million too many, but still 4 million less than these dick-heads claim. Ditto for the rest of their statements

Steff

haha

10.04.2013 20:31

Ttell the whole story instead of quote mining to try and distort reality in your favour........

"It had an average daily circulation of 1,991,275 copies in April 2012.[11] Between June and December 2011 it had an average daily readership of approximately 4.371 million, of whom approximately 2.803 million were in the ABC1 demographic and 1.596 million in the C2DE demographic.[11] It has over 100 million unique visitors per month to its website.[12]"

So Facts are:
1. It used to be 4.4 million
2. Its now 2 million
3. There are over 100 million unique visitors per month to website

So, thats about 3.3 million unique visitors to website and 2 million papers per day
------> about 5.3 million daily readers then.

Which is pretty close to 6 million

I guess you are took out of touch with technology to realise that people are buying less papers and using the Internet to view the same paper online for free. Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
Surprised i had to point this little factoid out

Anyhow...... its a heck of a lot more people than those interested in reading Indymedia
Conclusion: The Daily Mail is much more POPULAR than indymedia by several magnitudes
Many "reporters" on this site even just get their stories directly from DM or link to them lol!

The trolls need to learn to READ comments which agree that "yes the Daily Mail is more powerful than Indymedia, but if the radical movement wasn't a threat to the establishment then the Daily Mail etc wouldn't put such enormous effort into trying to smear and to defame the radical movement"

We all know IMC doesn't have the huge staff, immense resources, or the readership available to the Daily Mail, that doesn't mean IMC users can't make use of what they have got access to effectively ;)

Im not gay

10.04.2013 22:08

The other troll needs to understand the different between the words powerful and popular.
And why is the DM powerful? Because it is popular!
It doesn't matter how powerful the DM is (ie. money, staff etc), if it wasn't popular, then that money wouldn't be spent on it. Afterall, what kind of investor would pour so much money into a newspaper that wasn't popular? The DM is powerful BECAUSE it is popular.
On the flipside, I notice that no-one is pouring any money into Indymedia.

"We all know IMC doesn't have the huge staff, immense resources, or the readership available to the Daily Mail, that doesn't mean IMC users can't make use of what they have got access to effectively ;)"

I agree.

Its about quality not quantity. How many Daily Fail readers are actually intelligent people and not search engine robots, other websites crawling for content, remote linking from hotlinkers, kids looking for knicker shots of celebrities or just dirty old men looking for tits and swimsuits. How many people do the Daily Fail actually have reading their content in a serious, adult manner? It aint many, in fact, the vast majority of the Daily Fail's "readership" won't amount to anything that's worth noting at all. In fact, the vast majority of those visitors will be pointless.

Indymedia is a serious site, with content that you cannot find on the Daily Fail or any other media. It hasn't got any advertising so its page views won't be artificially inflated.

These trolls arguing that popular means right or that numbers are more important than content don't know crap.

You either have the ideas or you don't...the Daily Fail don't. Nobody takes the Daily Fail seriously because it has nothing to say.

Indymedia does.
