Cardiff Against The Bedroom Tax

Assemble 1 pm, City Hall
Saturday 30 March called by Cardiff Against The Bedroom Tax, Cardiff Homelessness Solidarity Campaign, South Wales Disabled People Against Cuts and others.

Tax Spare Homes not Spare Rooms - 4,212 families in Cardiff have been hit with the Bedroom Tax. Instead of a mansion tax for the rich, the government is introducing a bedroom tax for the poor. This policy has been drawn up by Tory Toff, Lord Freud who will not be taxed on his own 11 spare bedrooms, 8 of which are in his spare mansion...

We call upon Cardiff Council now to undertake not to take any eviction action against tenants for rent arrears which arise as a result of housing benefit being reduced for “under-occupation”. This will ensure that people do not become homeless for debt over which they had no control.

Hundreds of people are impacted by this tax in this city alone, if we stand together with thousands of others across the land we can defeat the government. Let's take to the streets on Saturday 30 March and beyond that keep calm, stay put and don't pay. We can defeat this tax just as we defeated the poll tax...
