PDSA withdraws from workfare

Apache | 20.02.2013 17:52 | Workfare | Social Struggles

As of today (20th February) the PDSA has withdrawn from all government workfare schemes.

The reason for the withdrawal is they didn't wish to become a target for the anti-workfare campaign. Letters were sent today to all workfare workers currently at PDSA sites to state they are no longer compelled to work, but have the opportunity to remain as volunteers if they so wish.

Sorry no link; the info comes from my being involved with the charity (hence the pseudonym) but if you contact them direct, I'm sure they'd confirm it.

"PDSA has reviewed its position regarding the Government work placement programme and has taken the decision not to participate in the scheme going forward."

Outrageous

It is outrageous that PDSA were involved in slave labour in the first place. Shame on them.
