CURO Housing tenants faced with stark choices this April

Tenant FIGHTBACK | 09.02.2013 12:36 | Social Struggles | Wales | World

CURO Housing landlord gives 1000 of its tenants 3 choices 1) move out 2) take in lodger 3) pay bedroom tax

CURO Housing is well aware that:

1) It does not even have 50 spare one bed properties for some of these tenants to move into

2) rent from lodger would mean even less housing benefit entitlement for tenant. Also rent from lodger treated as income by Jobcentre plus. What if lodger fails to pay the rent ? And who wants to take strangers into their homes these days anyway ?

3) bedroom tax would have to be paid out of tenants income support, jobseekers allowance, ESA etc., benefits which do not contain any element for housing costs.

This cynical and devious attempt to subvert the terms and conditions of tenants legally binding tenancy agreements by using housing benefit as a weapon to move tenants out must be resisted by all right minded people.

As for the spineless CURO Housing sychophants who are implementing this iniquitous scheme you deserve nothing but our utter contempt
