Scientist Dr. David Karoly says record heat & fires in Australia are a warning to the world. "The bug guy" U. of Maryland's Dr. Michael Raupp on insects in a warming world. Steven Davis explains why climate solutions advanced just 9 years ago are no longer possible.

Coming up in this program: leading scientist Dr. David Karoly says record heat and fires in Australia are a warning to the world. Karoly also taught climate science at the University of Oklahoma. I ask him about that.

But the big news is Australia. The country experienced all-time record heat, continuing heat, giant heat. The whole country, coast-to-coast, was above 37 degrees C or 100 degrees F at one point.

Then came the floods down through Queensland, plus a swarm of tornadoes. It's out of control, and still the government and industry are pushing a doubling of coal exports. Climate? Who cares?

But we are not alone in the big change. Insects may adapt or die faster than humans, as told by "the bug guy", University of Maryland's Dr. Michael Raup. He's a great communicator.

Then Dr. Steven J. Davis explains why climate solutions advanced just 9 years ago are no longer possible. A new report updating "wedge theory" says existing technology is not enough to stem the climate tide. Now what?

It may surprise people here but Australian summers are hot with droughts and flooding a regular part of the eco-system going back thousands of years. The records of the first British settlement were well documented by Admiral Arthur Phillip who started recording meteorologist data from as far back as 1789. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology ( www.bom.gov.au ) records show clearly that temperatures in Australia have been constant for over 200 years.

The views of an American with a strong financial interest in the myth of anthropogenic climate change should be closely examined and regarded with extreme scepticism.

(By the way I do of course understand that any posts that question the theory of human induced climate change are heresy here so this post will be hidden )
