CHRISSIE HYNDE’S DAUGHTER ARRESTED IN TREETOP ON SECOND DAY OF ROAD PROTEST EVICTION

East Sussex County Council still denying food and blankets to activists facing 44mph gusts

29 January, 2.45pm, Crowhurst: Natalie Hynde, daughter of musician Chrissie Hynde [3], has been removed from the treetops and arrested by bailiffs just before noon this morning, on the second day of the eviction of the Decoy Pond anti-road camp in Combe Haven, located just west of Upper Wilting Farm in Crowhurst (TN38 8EG) [4]. The Camp is one of three that have been established along the route of the proposed £100m Bexhill-Hastings Link Road (BHLR).

Ms Hynde (30) spent the night locked-on 40-foot up an oak tree, where she was denied food and painkillers on orders from East Sussex County Council [5]. East Sussex County Council (ESCC) are still denying food and blankets to activists facing 44mph gusts. ESCC’s out of hours number for emergency media enquiries is 07974 427569.

Two other people have also been arrested during today’s eviction, bringing the total number of confirmed arrests during the last 47 days of continuous protest [6] in the Valley to twenty-four.

The £100m Road project is one of over forty “zombie roads” that were declared dead years ago but have now been resuscitated as part of as part of Britain’s largest road-building programme in 25 years [7,8].

Natalie Hynde said: “‘It is ludicrous that this road is being built at a time when we desperately need to be reducing CO2 emissions. All the studies show that if you build more roads then you encourage more car use which leads to even greater traffic problems.”
