The African People’s Solidarity Committee (APSC) will hold its annual International Conference on January 6-8, 2013.
The APSC is the organization of white people working in the white communities under the leadership of the African People’s Socialist Party, which leads the worldwide movement for African liberation, unification and socialism.
The Conference will feature Omali Yeshitela, Chairman of the African People’s Socialist Party and founder of the Uhuru Movement, and Penny Hess, Chairwoman of the African People’s Solidarity Committee.
This year’s Conference takes place during one of the greatest periods of social and political transformations in history, as six hundred years of parasitic capitalism, built and maintained on the oppression of African people and the majority of the world, are coming to an end.
As the crisis of the system deepens, we see economic collapse, increasing imperial wars, societal breakdown, and growing movements of resistance striking out against the status quo on all fronts.
While the vast majority of humanity celebrates the rapidly approaching end of an oppressive system, for North Americans or Europeans, Israelis, or whites in South Africa, who have been imperialism’s beneficiaries, this is a prospect that may bring fear, anxiety and foreboding.
The APSC International Conference offers a unique chance for white people to come together in the presence of the African People’s Socialist Party Chairman Omali Yeshitela and other Party leaders to understand what is happening in the world and to join the rest of humanity in overturning this oppressive system.
Says Penny Hess, summing up the role of white people in this period of transformation:
“Imperialism’s crisis need not be our crisis. The solution is found in abandoning our allegiance to the sinking ship of imperialism and joining in solidarity with the struggles of African and oppressed peoples everywhere….We can begin to understand the world as it really is. We can learn discuss, question and get organized as messengers of anti-colonial revolution in the belly of the beast where imperialism’s stolen resources are amassed.”
The Conference will include discussions of African Internationalism, the guiding political theory of the Uhuru Movement, theoretical and practical aspects of building the solidarity movement, and a Community Forum on the current political and economic situation in Obama’s second term.
The APSC calls on the white community to participate in this Conference, to join humanity, understand the world as it really is and to get to work organizing others!
