Homeless in Spain because of Dutch tax office

9 weeks ago I left the Netherlands. The Dutch tax office confirmed to my that I would receive my tax refund within 2 weeks. Now I have 2 nights credit in a homeless shelter and I must beg in the streets. The Dutch tax office is not meeting their appointments.

4 weeks ago I was informed that the dutch tax office did not have a record of my bank account number, which turned out to be, they lost hundreds of thousands of records of bank account numbers of dutch people. I confirmed my bank account number by letter, in 4 copies, 2 times via a friend of mine in the Netherlands and 2 times frrom spain, those letters from the Netherlands are there within one day but within the dutch tax office has still not paid and says there is no record of any received documents in their system.

Yesterday I asked the dutch embassy in Madrid for help via email, but no message yet. Meanwhile, I am done with this vacation that turned into hell. How to get back to Holland is the big question now, with no money in myy pocket and in the streets..

Who can help me?

Suggest you go to the Dutch Embassy in Madrid (or Barcelona, whichever is closer) and ask to speak with Consular Assistance people...

But why did you go on holiday with no money, relying on a tax refund to get home?!

curious

money

Why I relied on the tax refund?
I was almost living without money, and am done with living here because I used the last money I had for food instead of traveling back because they keep telling I will receive it in 1 week, 2 weeks etc. And then they come up with ANOTHER form to fill out instead of paying.

I have arranged that I will call from here with a social worker to the dutch embassy in madrid and the tax office in the netherlands and hope this will deliver a solution..

my advice to you

1) Dont leave home without sufficient funds to complete the journey. Never trust governments to pay on time.
2) Have a backup plan. Is there no one who will wire you some cash? transfers via the post office/western union are almost instant. You need this not just in case you have no money in your acoount, for whatever reason, but also in case you loose your card/wallet. Find out what alternatives are available where you are going & how to use them, before you go.
3) If the above does not make sense you might be better off holidaying at home.

Im not going to be protesting in front of your embassy coz i cant get excited about a campaign demanding help for those who have run out of money on holiday.

Very efficient, The Dutch

The Dutch system is probably one of the most efficient in the World, when it comes to paying in. But when it comes to getting anything out, they are not so clever. I mislaid the Log Book for my car, could get an MOT and was snookered. So I applied for a new log book, the cash is off my bank account in milliseconds, the log book took nearly a month to arrive, during which time I was grounded. Judging from discussions on blogs and other NGO sites this incompentence is becoming pretty much the norm. They, like the brits are very good at money laundering, they like to show off about how civilised they are they probably launder even more than the City of London .. which is a fuck of a lot !!

grow up!

Your plight isn't news. Get your thumb out and you'll be home in less than a week. Get food from supermarket/gas station bins.

Stop being such a pussy!
