Her Majesties wedding gift collection reveals rare historic artefacts.

Today Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip of Greece celebrate their blue sapphire wedding anniversary. According to the booklet “A List of Wedding Gifts published by St James Palace London 20th November 1947” her majesty was given (amongst other things) the following rare and interesting items “No 1975-Part of the holy carpet from the Great Mosque at Mecca framed under glass to form a tray (from:- Major General Sir Reginald Wingate - Khartoum 1903), …No 2340 –Portrait and collar of the dog Patty, the only British survivor of the Kabul massacre 1879.( Mrs A Mackenzie Drew,)” I wonder if her majesty still retains possession of these important historical artefacts.
