The Anarchist Black Cross

One thing alot of younger activists don't understand about agent-provocateurs, is that often it isn't even necessary for the state to pay its agents. All that's needed for a "real" activist to end up helping the Special Branch, is for a potential agent to have an outstanding police case against them, or to be serving jail time, so the state can cut a deal for a bit of freelance agent-provocateur work, in exchange for reduced jail-time or for turning a blind-eye to an unsolved offense (no money involved). The crime doesn't even need to have been particularly spectacular - a minor drugs bust, a threat of jail time for getting over-excited on a demo, a drunken punch-up, a drunken domestic, a bit of benefit fraud....

Sure the ABC did great work in the days of Franco, however because the ABC choose to work with convicts, the ABC is the perfect place for the state to recruit undercover agents; because the ABC now choose to champion cases of psychopaths like John Bowden, ABC is the prefect mechanism for the state to discredit Anarchism; because ABC choose to be involved with murderers like Bowden, Indymedia moderators are in turn scared to allow cogent criticism of ABC, and censor comments which point-out they're being used to fuck-up the very movement which, in all probability, they genuinely want, in their naiveté, to somehow "help".
