Refugee assistance, help and advice
akoi.bazzie@refugeecouncil.org,uk (Sheffield Refugee Alliance ) | 05.09.2012 14:55
Sheffield Refugeee Alliance is a newish group of autonomous individuals who have recenty returned from France where we have been working with No Borders and other migrant groups to provide legal advice to those seeking to make a new life in Britain.
We are now seeking to extend our role by travelling to West Africa and providing advice to those who are considering making the journey to the UK. If you have experience in migration law, refugee benefits, international overland travel or just feel a need to help please get in contact with us.
By speaking to those who are already in the UK or are stuck in one of the French concentration camps we know that some do not make the journey as a result of fear of the travel, the reception they will get in the UK or the complex procedures for claiming benefits. We aim to encourage as many people as possible by providing advice on travel, avoiding French police, methods for getting into the UK etc.
We are seeking modest dontations to pay for fuel etc as well as volunteers who can work with potential migrants by phone, email or Skype and provide advice and encouragement to come to Britain.
Our phone number and email are here, do please get in touch or consider a dontation
Thanks

An apparently new group, with no website (as far as I can tell), is asking for money for an until now unknown project.
They are also openly talking about doing a number of potentially illegal activities.
The email address is that someone from the Refugee Council, who are known to steer well clear of this kinda thing.
If this project was genuine, we would have already heard of it through other channels.
Can you provide a link to more information?
If not, could the mods take this down?

If you don't support them don't be involved with them but asking for their posts to be removed just because they are doing something different from you is not on. We need to encourage new initiatives not slagging them off when people give new ideas a try.
Supports the idea
More information ?

They gave an email address and a phone number what else do you want for a group doing such edgy work ? Are you a cop trying to shut down a new migrant action group ?
