Local anti Fascists outnumber the British National Party's national call out demonstration in Pallion, Sunderland.
On the 25th August 2012, the British National Party announced it was holding a second protest outside the Subway outlet in Pallion, Sunderland. A counter demonstration by anti-Fascists in the area was also organised. Around thirty anti-Fascists assembled near the Subway at 12pm.
The first comedic moment of the day was made by the Police officer present saying "Alright, so who's the leader here?": there was no leader. Then he followed this by saying "You've picked a good day for it", of course it was the BNP who had chose this day to demonstrate. We arrived outside the Subway around 12.15 and there was not a Fascist in sight, beside the lonely, shadowy figure of a BNP member who skulked around the corner wondering what do with the number of anti-fascists demonstrating against them.
Eventually at 1pm, the main body of the BNP's national call out had gathered with just about eighteen people present, and because of the antifascist presence they could only demonstrate on the corner of the street near to their target outside the Kwik-Tan shop.
Tanning themselves, the first 10 minutes of their appearance was met by a anti-fascist comrade sneakily snatching one of the BNP's placards and smashing it up putting the placard in the bin.
After a short time,by 3pm the BNP decided the tanning shop was too much to endure and began to pack up and leave for home. It was 1-0 for the anti-Fascists!
Further hilarity ensured when it was reported afterwards that the BNP 'truth truck' had crashed into the St Peters Metro bridge. 2-0 !
No pasaran.

It always makes me laugh how you tackle this 'ritual slaughter' issue. Here are a few responses, from an animal rights activist and anti-fascist, to some of your very misguided and uneducated comments.
Firstly, above you claim that 'UAF' support ritual slaughter and animal abuse. (to start with, there is no indication that these people opposing you are from UAF, by the seems they are autonomous anti-fascists and anarchists.) I am pretty sure that no anti-fascist organisation in this country gives a thumbs up to halal slaughter, kosher slaughter or any other slaughter. By opposing your demonstration (and that is all demonstrations - not just ritual slaughter ones), this does not mean that the people are in support of what you are demonstrating against. They are opposing you because of who you are, and what your organisation stands for. You will be pleased to find out that many people who regularly oppose you are also animal rights activists, hunt saboteurs etc, who oppose ALL forms of slaughter and animal abuse, not just the ones that come from religions that you don't like.
The BNP, NF, EDL and Casuals United have recently been giving a lot of attention to Halal slaughter and halal food outlets. This is in fitting with their anti-Islamic stances, and not for the concern of animals. How many of these people are vegetarian or vegan, and how many of them protest against other forms of animal abuse? I can almost guarantee that many will sit down on a Sunday and eat birds that come from the same slaughter houses and poultry companies that they so dearly oppose for slaughtering things the Muslim way. It's nothing short of hypocrisy, and most people who are active in the fight for the rights of animals and their treatment can see that this is just another attempt by the far right to jump on the bandwagon with the issue. It's happened numerous times before, and they've been shown where to go.

I must snigger at the fact that these lads who 'sport are troops' seem to know all about animal rights - they probably can't even spell vegetarian let alone explain the ethos of a vegan!! 'Stop halal' they wail and then go home to a bacon sandwich where the pig has been inhumanely treated and more than often, not properly stunned and is still alive when its stomach is sliced!!
These group feed off of hate and will use any means possible to lure gullible people to believe their warped ideals!
Halal and any other meat from the industry is never rightly killed, these are animals murdered in cold blood inhumanely.
We are AR and we will not stop our fight for animal rights, so please you fascists numbskulls keep us out of your vile ideals!!
