Mid-month critical mass in solidarity with those arrested

critical mass | 09.08.2012 08:42

There will be a mid month critical mass in solidarity with those arrested at the critical mass two weeks ago. Meet up under Waterloo Bridge at 6pm on Friday the 10th of August for a 7pm start.

To avoid any confrontation this time and to avoid any more arrests we will be cycling from Waterloo to Brixton. Our ride will terminate at the Hobgoblin Pub in Herne Hill near Brockwell Park where people can stop off for a rest before going home. This is the same route that many of the people on the last critical mass decided to take.

" we will be cycling from Waterloo to Brixton. Our ride will terminate at the Hobgoblin Pub in Herne Hil"

and who put you in charge ?
CM is a living event, the Mass decides itself where it goes and when, there are no leaders so please do not put yourself forward as being a 'leader'.

Regular

In theory yes, we all know there is this pretence of hippy, happy consensus but if you are really a "regular" you will know full well that there is a group of us who actually run the thing because without us it would not happen.

The nature of Critical Mass is surely that the ride goes where it wants to based on the whims and wackyness of the riders on the ride. It was never about being a simple A - B ride, Waterloo to Brixton.

Catch 22

Of course, anyone who takes part in organising such a procession, by deciding the route in advance, will become subject to any conditions which police choose to impose.

is this solidarity?

I dunno, I don't wanna be rude when i don't really know much about this, but the post gives the impression it was the cyclists' fault they got nicked, in particular ...

"To avoid any confrontation this time and to avoid any more arrests we will be cycling from Waterloo to Brixton"
and
"This is the same route that many of the people on the last critical mass decided to take" with reference to a group who didn't get nicked last time.

It just makes it sound like if people had taken the 'sensible' route they wouldn't be in trouble, which I really don't think is a very solidarity-ish thing to say, especially when there's police dates and court cases pending and such.

Good luck on the CM.

never mind the...

no offence, and maybe we'll go to the grosvenor after, but some of us would rather not go to Brixton - seems like the wrong direction, if this is solidarity with people nicked for breaching olymprick enclosure-fest shouldn't we be at least attempting to head for forbidden territory again? Not much in the way of a protest if we toddle off south to the pub.
