Morton Hall detainees protest during Ramadan

Detainees at an immigration detention centre in Lincolnshire say they are protesting about the centre's disrespect of their Muslim faith. Muslims are fasting during daylight hours as the season of Ramadan begins but detainees say that the centre has no "proper" food available after sunset. They claim that as many as 100 detainees are involved in the protest and that detainees climbed onto the roof last night.

This statement was made by the detainees who say they are on strike: "Sir we are here in detention centre Morton Hall. We are with fasting in the last four days but management not supply proper food for it. We demand proper food at the proper time. Today they don't give food at all and guys are on the roof. We are on strike. Why they don't treat us as human?"

Do we not owe a duty to these people to help them move on from their adherence to a fairy story from the 2nd Century ? There is no reason to follow this food and drink guideline other than a belief that a "God" is telling them to.

Why not tell them about -  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_Monster it is as relevant as their ideas.

Without submission to God you only have a very limited period of existence. Allow God into your heart, accept that Islam is your only route to Paradise and live for eternity.

Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, non-believers and even Jews can be saved BUT they need to submit to God and his last messenger. There is no other choice.

How can detainees "go on strike"?! Massive Fail.
I guess this is a language misunderstanding. They probably mean "protesting"

Anyway, I'm not sure how they can "demand" for something. I can hardly walk into a restaurant and demand that i am fed. I have to pay for it. Yet, these guys get free food and still bicker about it.

Finally, religion is stupid. I am not supported anyone who relies on an imaginary power that makes them slaves as to when they can and can't eat food. Ridiculous. The best thing for these people is to stop this nonsense and just eat food like normal people (except its for free).

I have no problem with other peoples beliefs as long as they don't try and involve me in the fantastic stories of their invisible friend in the sky.

As for people expecting me to work overtime and feed them hot food because of some childish fairy story.

Sorry heres a cheese sandwich apple and glass of milk. As for having the cheek to expect a cooked meal at the drop of a hat stop sounding like my stroppy teenage son.
