Smash BNP National Demo Glasgow

edinburgh afa | 20.07.2012 11:02 | Anti-racism | Social Struggles

On Saturday 28 July, the BNP will descend on Glasgow city centre for what leader Nick Griffin is calling the "biggest nationalist demonstration ever in Glasgow".

On Saturday 28 July, the BNP will descend on Glasgow city centre for what leader Nick Griffin is calling the "biggest nationalist demonstration ever in Glasgow". It follows their failed attempts - alongside their fascist chums in the Scottish Defence League - to carry out activity on Buchanan Street over two Saturdays in July so far. On both occasions, passers by and local anti-fascists have united to show their opposition to the BNP and SDL - and they were soon sent packing. Saturday 28th must be a huge show of force against the fascists - they shall not pass!

You will all get arrested you stupid morons! You forget that at every so called anti-fascist demonstration there are loads of arrests for serious offences such as riot and violent disorder. Video footage of a sickening riot caused by so called anti-fascists:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z03WXCKOBoI

anti-fascists are the real fascists!

Did you learn nothing from the EDF in Bristol? The ONLY reason their dog and pony show got any publicity was because people organised against it requiring the police to keep both sides apart. If that had not happened they would have been ignored.

Now some fools are about to make the same mistake in Scotland, the BNP will be lucky to get 100 supporters to the city, imagine if all that happened was the people of Glasgow ignored them and just got on with their lives, imagine if the police concentrated on other more important things, imagine if the Black and Asian community stood by and laughed at the BNP as they marched by.

In the German city of Hamburg a student group organised a laughing protest against local Neo-Nazis, people were encouraged to point and laugh at them when they marched by, it was totally humiliating, men, woman, children, Turkish people, White, Black, Chinese, even the Police all pointing and laughing at the flags, the boots, the silly T shirts. Support for the Nazis fell like a stone (who wants to be laughed at for five solid hours ? ) and they have never marched again.

Ignore the BNP, Laugh at the BNP just don;t give them the confrontation they are so desperately seeking.

Who on earth are the "EDF" ? As far as I know, hey don't quote me! There was no demonstration against an electricity company in Bristol, or confrontation with them infact. Go away.

Q1 - "Did you learn nothing from the EDF in Bristol?"
A1 - Well for a start I learned they're not called the EDF

Q2 - "The ONLY reason their dog and pony show got any publicity was because people organised against it"?
A2 - The EDL have had many hours of prime-time TV coverage and hundreds of pages of mainstream newspaper coverage, in some cases resulting from demos against which there was no counter-protest, and despite their not ever being a very large organisation, so your analysis is totally incorrect

Q3 - "Imagine if the Black and Asian community stood by and laughed at the BNP as they marched by"?
A3 - That would be an example of people organising against them ;)

If, as you say "in the German city of Hamburg a student group organised a laughing protest against local Neo-Nazis... and they have never marched again" that's superb - a very good example of how to organise inclusive anti-fascist protests. Your call to (quote) "Ignore the BNP, Laugh at the BNP" is totally self-contradictory (laughing at them is not ignoring them). I think the one good point you were trying to make is that ridicule might be more constructive than violence, and, given the option, I'd agree. If however the BNP decide to physically attack those people who laugh at them (or anyone else for that matter) then fighting back would be an option

Don't be conned by media lies about the BNP, listen to this which reveals the truth about the BNP;  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsA_Xko4tqM
The media thrive on sensationalism and that is why they write stories about the BNP describing them as Hitler loving nazis because stories like that sell newspapers. In reality the BNP are normal political party concerned about a wide range of issues.

The media lie to you about everything including the BNP

When the SDL last gathered in Glasgow

21.07.2012 17:01

for a static demonstration, all 30 of them were surrounded by loadsa cops. They stood and shouted for a while, then got bussed out. The reason there were soo many cops was because of the huge antifa demonstration, which was not kettled. Punters out shopping etc walked by the SDL, and only saw a lot of cops, so their poison was only spouted to each other. I'd call that a good reason to counter-demo.

What really happened in Hamburg...

21.07.2012 18:03

From a featured story on Indymedia Germany..."Four years have passed since the last time that Nazis tried to have a large rally in Hamburg. Now, on 2 June, they tried again, this time under the title "Day of the German future." Under the slogan "Yes we Bam" there was over a year of preparations to oppose this event. According to various estimates just 350-700 Nazis came, against more than 10,000 counter-demonstrators. Because of several sit-ins and burning barricades the Nazi route several times had to be changed and cut short Only because of extreme police violence could even this 1 km route be walked by the Nazis". They were not ignored!

did they not organise a national meeting in glasgow with Mr Tyndall etc in Glasgow in the early nineties. It was all going well when the BNP had an alteraction with a large of group of joiners who were in town working. Unfortunatley for the BNP the joiners all had hammers, lots of hammers......... and they had to escape using tunnels under central station with a police escort before anything else occured.........................no wait a minute ...........they werent joiners ........that was AFA my mistake.

Since there is no real fun in it, maybe it helps to draw them with funny noses - that worked for their grandfathers.

The counter-demo to the EDL in Bristol was not originally a counter demo.
The EDL organised their demonstration to be on the same day as Bristol Pride, to highlight their strong connections with the LGBT community (and proceeding to attack an elderly woman, a trans woman, and hurl abuse at many others).
Bristol Pride quite rightly stood their ground. This is why there was a huge police presence. It was because of the EDL.
