The much hyped EDL mobilisation in Bristol today resulted in one of the lowest turns outs to an EDL demo yet as around 200-300 EDL trickled into the city. By contrast around 2000+ counter protesters were out and about in the city. The police had sought to move all of the counter protesters to Castle Park, but most ignored the call either gathering at Temple Meads or the Fountains.

The EDLs march into the city was interrupted by resistance constantly from the first moment as huge numbers of police were deployed to separate the groups. Around 100-200 people met the EDL at the station and blocked coaches from arriving while 1000+ gathered at the fountains to show their opposition to the group. Despite the EDL claiming they are only protesting 'radical Islam' the group has been dogged by members overt racism and violent behaviour. This was shown today as the first arrest by police was an EDL member for racially aggravated public order offence. After much resistance the official EDL march of around 250+ got moving at around 1.30pm.

By contrast around 2000 Antifascist protesters marched from the Fountains to Castle Park. In the shadow of this, the Bristol Gay pride event went ahead as planed and was a success. The EDL finally arrived at the pen the police had constructed in Queens Square around 2.30pm and the small numbers meant only around 15% of the allotted space was needed.  After a couple of speeches and tussles the small EDL crowd were marched off to board thier buses and leave Bristol around 3pm.

If muslims had their way gays would be executed in Britain!

If muslims had their way then gays would be executed in Britain just like they are in Iran! A gay pride march last year through a muslim area of east London, Whitechapel had to be cancelled after threats from muslim extremists! You people are so stupid.

line the streets

lining the streets is a succesful tactic and makes the EDL feel the hostility towards them and despite all their bravado they pantsed it like in brighton. it means plod cant kettle you and folk avoid the UAF/police kettle and pointless counter demo in the opposite direction. well done bristolians. an utter humiliation for the EDL. again.

All in all...

I take it from the little I've seen to read about Bristol and the sulking silence of the fash that Bristol was yet another massive humiliating fail for them?
Couldn't make it to this one but was there at Tower Hamlets when the tide began to turn against the EDL. Since Tower Hamlets their numbers have declined and antifash numbers gone up with more and more people realising that these twats have to be stopped and that they can be if we get enough people out and stay clear of the police kettles.
Like all bullies when met with determined resistance their bottle has gone. Brighton seems to have been a big fuck up for them twice and led to splits between little Tommy and Jeff "Mouth" Marsh.
Where were the Casuals in Bristol by the way? Were they too scared or has the split between them and the EDL caused them to stay away?
Lets see these fuckers off properly. Lets build a nationwide co-ordinated and co-operating anti-fascist movement putting aside sectarian differences and division over tactics that supports members from different areas and gets the numbers out on the streets. We've got these bastards on the run now because we are drawing together different disparate groups to oppose them, unity has strengthened us. The days when they could turn up mob handed at our demos and meetings have gone. the days they could get 1000's out in the streets with divided and ineffective opposition look like they are going also. Lets keep it that way, support each other and hammer these fascist bastards!

M: massive washout. even mr tommy couldnt be arsed. 2nd national he has missed. oh dear me!

M: declining numbers thru 'backstabbing', infighting, apathy, boredom, being skint, realising they have achieved nothing etc.

Like all bullies when met with determined resistance their bottle has gone. Brighton seems to have been a big fuck up for them twice and led to splits between little Tommy and Jeff "Mouth" Marsh.

M: they have been in denial but the 2 'leaders' had a public fallout and all the stuff was screenshot for posterity by edl news etcs. lots of people really hate mr tommy and he is losing supporters everyday.

Where were the Casuals in Bristol by the way? Were they too scared or has the split between them and the EDL caused them to stay away?

M; casuals of which there about 3 of them, have fallen out with edl, they also were pissed at bnp hijacknig the charlene campaign so they are putting a book together of their website. a real dan brown runaway thats gonna be. all they do is repost stuff from other sites and cant write english coherently. they have acheeved fuck all.

M: yes indeed. antifascist network going now and informal resistance has massively increased. they are realising they have done nothing but create revulsion with the public, have had NO good media, and the link with the fluffy british freedom is a non-starter.

The days when they could turn up mob handed at our demos and meetings have gone. the days they could get 1000's out in the streets with divided and ineffective opposition look like they are going also. Lets keep it that way, support each other and hammer these fascist bastards!

M; right on bro! can you contact me via website or urban75 if you can!
