News of the land rights action in Runnymede, Windsor + workshops this saturday afternoon.

In recent days we have seen attempts to remove us from the disused land of Cooper’s Hill in Runnymede, Windsor.

On wednesday a High Court Enforcement Officer visited and requested that we leave. After informing him of our intentions – to grow food, build dwellings and live in common by the sweat of our brows – he later summoned six security guards who carried us 40 metres away and dropped us on the National Trust land. Once they had gone we returned to the Longhouse, had a cuppa and continued with preparations for dinner.

Thursday saw another attempt to remove us, this time attended by three security personnel, two Police Officers and a bailiff. Three of the villager’s successfully evaded being removed by taking positions in the rafters of the Longhouse. Upon the security and police officers leaving, those who had been carried and dropped on National Trust land returned and the kettle on.

It is now expected that the land owner will push for a criminal element be applied to the current civil injunction - therefore giving police officers the powers to arrest us.

We remain strong in our convictions and committed to our cause:

Yesterday the Windsor Diggers uploaded a number of live video broadcasts via Bambuser:

We still very much welcome people to visit or join us in Runnymede.

Saturday’s workshops (starting at 1pm) will include: wattle and daub wall making for our Longhouse, craft-making, foraging for wild food and a discussion on ‘sustainability and land’.
