The Animal Rights Alliance has today joined campaign groups who have publicly condemned Pet Planet Superstore Ltd, t/a Dogs 4 Us after appalling puppy farm conditions were uncovered in 2009 by Sky News. It was also noted that Dogs4Us do not issue ID tags identifying the breeding establishment contray to The Sale of Dogs (Identification Tag) Regulations 1999.
The Animal Rights Alliance is concerned about animal welfare policies at Dogs4Us. In letters to Salford City Council and Leeds City Council, the Alliance outlined concerns about the sale of dogs without ID tags. The letter also asked that the Council to revoke Dogs4Us license, based on the evidence obtained in the Sky News expose.
The Alliance is interested to know whether staff hold qualifications in pet shop management as required by the Pet Animals Act 1951.
