If I becomer Sussex’s Police & Crime Commissioner said David Joe Neilson
I will set up CITIZENS ON PATROL SUSSEX

have received and offers of help to set up these units
I WANT YOU THE PUBLIC TO BECOME INVOLVED IN THIS AND IT’S MY JOB IS TO SEE THAT YOU THE PUBLIC GET THE POLICING YOU WANT BY BECOMING A MEMBER OF C.O.P.S. YOU WILL HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF POLICING AND YOU PUBLIC CAN ASK FOR THE CHANGES THEY WANT
C.O.P.S MEMBERS WILL NOT HAVE THE POWER OF ARREST

I am using Peacehaven as my guide to a small town and what other rolls C.O.P.S may undertake.

Some people may remember the Civil Defence. In snow conditions Peacehaven can be cut off this one more thing local C.O.P.S would be able to help with if the Police cannot get to Peacehaven or Ambulances C.O.P.S members owners of 4 wheel drive vehicles could be invaluable.

Trained units of local people who can be called out at a minutes notice in case of a disaster or terrorist acts will be invaluable.

I am hoping that we maybe able to have some members take advanced first aid courses
I also hope that Doctors will join C.O.P.S

I WANT YOU THE PUBLIC TO BECOME INVOLVED IN THIS AND IT’S MY JOB IS TO SEE THAT YOU THE PUBLIC GET THE POLICING YOU WANT

If you think you have what it takes then e-mail me now I wish to here your opinions and ideas are welcome  david_joe_neilson@yahoo.com

consider carefully who you give power to

The police do not have any "power of arrest" under the british state laws. An arrest and detention may only legally take place when it is actually necessary to prevent or investigate and offence. And that is almost never, because most people are willing to help any one, who is trying to prevent or detect a REAL CRIME, with out being arrested.

Think about it, if I say "I am willing to come to the station of my own free will, to make a statement of record as to what I was doing at the time of the murder". If the police officer says: "no you will not come of your own free will, because you are under arrest" was the arrest necessary to get the statement? of cause not! but no one cant think logically like that.

The sooner that people stop saying that they have a "power of arrest" the sooner the police will be accountable to law.

The only "power" that the police have, other than the power of violent force, is the political power given to them by people like you.
