Following the confiscation of PeaceStrike HQ and tent on Parliament Sq , Maria Gallestegui who has been on strike for six years, continues to defy the PRASRA law which forbids the use of 'sleeping equipment' on Parliament Sq. Last night (3.am) police officers came and confiscated Maria's sleeping bag and roll mat, leaving her with nothing but a bin liner to brave the cold. A court summons has been issued for a alledged breach of the PRASRA.

Tonight, Maria is still on Parliament Sq with a new sleeping bag and more bin liners!

As of 10:45, no confiscations or arrests have taken place. Maria is seeking to show that in practice, the ban on sleeping is a deterrent to 24hr ongoing, peaceful protest. The fear is that other conditions could be added to this law on Parliament Sq that will further limit the freedom to protest. Maria said tonight: ''This new law opens the door to creeping legislation such as time restrictions and or the ability to show a presence on certain crucial days of legislation or when controversial dignitaries are in the area.''
