Finding out about the Armed Forces in Schools

Will | 30.04.2012 08:31 | Anti-militarism | Education | World

Over at ForcesWatch we're building up a picture of the way the Armed Forces engage with schools - to help us do this we've launch a survey for parents, teachers and school students.

As part of our Military out of Schools campaign, ForcesWatch are trying to build a better picture of exactly how the Armed Forces engage with the education system. We're keen to hear the experiences of school students, parents and teachers with the Armed Forces coming to their school (primary, secondary or sixth form college/FE college).

If you have a couple of minutes spare, we'd be really grateful to find out more about your experiences and thoughts on the issue.

First thing to do is let them know that the goal of liberation is set by the anti-fascist fighters at dismantling the war machine and its manufactury and that is the way to freedom and deep democracy. You can understand that destroying the livability is not the same as improving the living and working conditions. So don't be fooled again, and make sure you put working for a living first, and not what Militarism does which is destroying the livability.

The glory must be to the productive ecological organic and inorganic balances of life, and not their destruction which is what the Militarization of the world is planning to do. Workers of the world, unite!! End pollution wars, not endless wars for more and more pollution. Free Bradley Manning and Julian Assange for they are for truthful journalism which is illegal in a military state, of which the Imperialist camp uses lies and propaganda to fool the people that their wars of aggression are good. The fact remains to this day that the correct way to freedom and democracy is to scrap the war machine and ifs manufactury.

I stopped teaching (secondary school) 6 years ago but what happened there was that every year, army reps came into schools when year 9 students were making their choices for GCSE's. They gave long assemblies to the whole year. I made complaints until the army assemblies were stopped. I was happy until I realised that 'selected groups' were being taken out of school as a big treat, to spend the day with the army on their fun assault courses. And which kids were selected? They were students predicted lowish grades for their exams, kids with learning difficulties, kids with ADHD etc.
That careers teachers in our school were acxtively encouraging teenagers to join up, sickened me. I trashed as much propoganda as i could while I was there...
