social media intelligence - SOCMINT

The police state is considering strict new laws on social media, intelligence - SOCMINT -including a review of the current Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000. Included in this thinktank proposal is transparency over use, storage, purpose, regulation and accountability of all website postings.
Outragous widespread intrusive surveillance would help government agencies, including local council staff, to quote website postings. Analysis of social media for intelligence purposes would enable lawyers to make tyrany attacks on peoples freedom of expression.
As to how it would work in practice is unclear, with trolls could leave their intelligence utterly confused. Or would it lead to loads of slander & libel lawsuits. Or official political thought crime police.
