As EUROPOL discusses tactics to repress the "threat" of "Euro-Anarchists", people take to the streets in Berlin and Den Haag

Here is text in English from the demo in Den Haag at the EUROPOL meeting against "Euro-Anarchists"

Yesterday 200 people demonstrated in Berlin against EUROPOL and their criminalization of so called "Euro-Anarchists." After the demonstration there was a festive BBQ in the lovely Kreuzberg "Goerli" park.

On the anniversary of the liberation of Italy from fascism during WWII, EUROPOL has invited 20 member states to a meeting on left and left-radical social movements. They attempt to label such movements with the label of "terrorism". Their motivation is clear, to isolate such movements as the No Border Network"… as well as other movements like those against high-speed rail lines, like the TAV in Italy. These movements need to be divided/isolated…

For these reasons, and in the leadup to our big 1 May celebrations, we met with 200 people to express solidarity yesterday in our demonstration. Noticeable was the enormous police presence, as well as the presence of 30 "undercover" police, who are generally noticeable by their earphones, and because they look like cops. Also, Redlich, the top press spokesman for the Berlin police was there, in his suit and tie. See:  http://www.berlin.de/polizei/presse-fahndung/pressesprecher.html

There was also a lecture about gentrification in Kreuzberg district, especially in relation to the recent case of the BMW-Guggenheim-Lab, whose construction would have helped further efforts of speculators to yuppify the district and drive rents up. This project was successfully stopped by local residents. Further texts were read about the problems of gentrification in these districts, and efforts to keep speculators out. Further topics were the recent General Strike in Spain, Squatting in Athens, and resistance against the TAV in Susatal. All of these movements were explained in relevance to the state repression against them, further explaining the reasons we demonstrated on this day against the BKA (German State/Secret police). photos:

After this, the demo planned to go to it's final destination for closing lectures, but the police tried to control them with a narrow cordon before they could proceed. The police were then surprised when the vast majority of the demo decided to run around and past the police controls, jogging through other parts of the neighborhood as they liked, away from police controls. Then, the crowd reassembled in the park for final presentations about efforts to stop deportation of migrants, and the racist methods police use when controlling/patrolling the park.
After this there was a festive atmosphere as people ate and grilled and enjoyed music until well after the sun went down.
