PC Karl Bartlett has been sentenced after being found guilty of assaulting a 14 year old boy.

Police Constable Karl Bartlett, 42, of the Territorial Support Group was sentenced at Westminster Magistrates' Court today (Monday 2 April) for common assault on a 14 year old boy in North West London on 1 March 2011.

Police Constable Bartlett was sentenced to three months imprisonment suspended for 12 months and ordered to do 18 hours of unpaid work.

Now that the criminal proceedings are complete misconduct proceedings have been instigated and he has been suspended following his conviction.

Commander Peter Spindler, Metropolitan Police Service said: "Behaviour such as this towards a juvenille is totally unacceptable and falls far short of the standard expected of an officer. PC Bartlett will now be the subject of disciplinary proceedings. As the officer now has a criminal conviction proceedings will go straight to a misconduct hearing."
