No Workfare at Royal Mail- April 2nd

Workfare Boycotter | 28.03.2012 14:49 | Workfare

The CWU leadership says their agreement with Royal Mail(RM) for the RM Work Experience is guarenteed voluntary.
Until lthey show their members a guarantee from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) that people leaving the RM/CWU scheme will not be penalised by the DWP, the scheme remains effectively compulsory.

NO TO WORKFARE AT ROYAL MAIL- APRIL 2ND 11am

Dispelling illusions:
a further open letter to all Communications Workers Union(CWU) members.

The CWU leadership keeps insisting and repeating their agreement with Royal Mail(RM) for the RM Work Experience is guarenteed voluntary.
Sadly they continue to miss the point.
Unless said leadership have a guarantee from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) that people leaving the RM/CWU scheme will not be penalised by the DWP, the scheme is not voluntary and sanction-free, as claimed. Both postal workers and Boycott Workfare would be very happy to see such an agreement. It should be a simple matter for the CWU
leadership to circulate it to their members, This they have still failed to do so, in spite of many requests.
We can only assume no such guarantee exists.
And our fight against this workfare scheme continues.

We therefore continue inviting all opposed to compulsory work programmes to
join our picket at CWU HQ at 150 The Broadway, Wimbledon, London, SW19 1RX
on April 2 at 1100 to demand “No Workfare at Royal Mail”
