2012 – the Year of the Infidel?

Well not on the evidence of what anti-fascists saw in Bolton today. A pitiful turn out of around thirty (maybe forty) of the North West Infidels and the Combined Ex Forces was confronted by a UAF crowd of over a hundred and at least sixty non-aligned anti-fascists.
From the outset it wasn't clear what the Infidels (an overtly racist splinter group of the EDL) were actually demonstrating about and those not actively hostile to them just looked on in bemusement. Probably due to their pre-match bragging about violence on Facebook, the Infidels were bussed under police supervision from their muster point to a pre-prepared pen at the arranged time of 1p.m.
A few EDL stragglers did hang around the pubs in the vicinity to jeer at the UAF before beating a retreat to the bar. After the rally was over anti-fascists patrolled the town unopposed.

it's great the edl + nwi etc came unstuck, but one sure fire way to make sure counter-mobilisations remain confined to the radical ghetto is to use these events as an excuse to fly loads of anarchist flags

Shame whilst you were protesting the few lads who went to Bolton most of us descended on Heywood, Hyde and Stockport.

But brag about you're "victory". We all know the right controls the North West now and you need to grab any "victory" you can, even though you were completely outsmarted yesterday.

A small bunch of working class football lads would take care of those anti fascists in the photo in 15 seconds. When was the last time those in the photo took part in a serious head on fight with a live opponent? I would say most of them have never had a real fight in their lives. Unlike some of the footie lads, who have been in numerous violent confrontations with other football firms. For a lot of them violence is a part of their lives, they give it and take it, and that includeds their social lives away from football.

Most of the footie lads attached to the fascists have no real interest in politics, or even know what a fascist is. They are there because they enjoy violence, like many young men of their class.
This hard man act from anti fascists is sometimes laughable.
Putting a hoodie on and covering your face, does not make you some super fighter.
It is like pretending just because you wear a pair of boxing gloves, it makes you ready to take on Amir Khan in the ring.

The real truth is that there wil be hardly any violence anyway because of the police containing the fascists, as I am sure many anti fascists are aware when they turn up for these demos.

Some of these commemts are moronic. pretend Army man, you have shit all, we've all seen snowys face book about getting people to bolton after the 'decoys' failed. Flying red & black flags- i kind of agree but that photo was taken of a partof the group after the action with no public about, and its only on activist sites. As for thr footy lads comments, i disagree, many of the antifa there are mma fighters, or simalar who train regularly, and cod see off a drunk hooligan in seconds. The nature of antifa has had to change due to the policing, and cctv etc. Its not a case of going toe to toe anymore at demos, but there are those of us who would openly enjoy one of those fascist pricks making the first move. Its easy to slate people on line when you wernt there.

I recon a few squaddie's with infantry kit could easily take out your football lads with less than 15 seconds. Football lads spend about 99% of the time arm waving and jeering without actually doing any action. By that time, a squaddie could put two full clips of 5.56mm fire their direction without even breaking a sweat. Most football firm lads havn't seen real combat on a battlefield, they are mostly just brawlers, using numbers to intimidate and fueled up by alcohol. Mostly mouth, with a bit of pushing and shoving, but no real threat in a battle confrontation.

Agreed. Its mostly fashion. Most of them have done no fight conditioning let alone sparring.
They want to be the fighter, but the hard conditioning and diet requirements would just drove most away, so they tend to stick to playing Tekken on their XBOXes. Fasc and Anti-fasc are the same in this regard. "Fortunately", for them, the police separate them, so they can do all the arm waving and pretend that the police prevented them from fighting. If they had any balls, they would go through the police.

I think you'll find the anti-fascists masking up is just so they can't be identified (by police or fascists), not because they have any desire to be street-fighting ninjas. Maybe the EDL should learn a few lessons here, as they are so keen on exposing their embarrassing and unsavoury personal details for all to see on Facebook.
