Metropolitan Police TSG officer U1632 attacked an innocent and totally peaceful protestor, from behind, during a demonstration against NHS privatisation, London, 17 March 2012
Metropolitan Police Territorial Support Group officer U1632 attacked an innocent and totally peaceful protestor, from behind, during a demonstration against NHS privatisation in London, today, 17 March 2012. U1632 ran up behind the young man and whacked him across the calves with a 2-foot long steel-core truncheon, causing his victim to collapse in agony on the pavement, before hauling him off to an unknown fate, out of sight, behind police lines. The assault took place on High Holborn, by the junction with Southampton Buildings, on the south side of the road (next to M&S and Jones shoe shop and opposite the Cittie of York pub) at approx 4.30pm. If anyone has more photos of this officer please post them here (but please DO NOT show ANY faces of protestors).
The TSG (aka CO20) are normally identifiable by their light blue baseball caps, and are the same unit that killed Ian Tomlinson and were originally created to cosmetically re-brand the Special Patrol Group, who became notorious after murdering Blair Peach. A former Met Police WPC who resigned in disgust over her colleagues ignorance, sexism and casual brutality, said that TSG officers "spend (their) days waiting for action, and far too many officers join seeking excitement and physical confrontation", and said some TSG are ex-army and are "the worst bullies" as they're too thick to realise that "the laws of the battlefield are not appropriate to the streets of our capital" -

Some people have said the cop with the gun was "just" a "coincidence", as apparently he got out of what was allegedly a diplomatic protection vehicle, but the point is that he GOT OUT at all, and then walked round the head of a totally peaceful protest with his finger on the trigger of a SUBMACHINE GUN, in preference to a/ not getting out or b/ leaving his gun locked inside the van. Expect not to be hearing about this story in the mainstream media.

The level of safety that is currently concreted in this country will be destroyed if police are allowed to do this without very very visible public resistance. Police carry guns sometimes, for certain events which need added security etc. of course, but an NHS rally? with most participants been most likely non-violent passive law obiding 'citizens'

I reckon our media guys were hit with a D-notice (ie D for "defence") by our government for the first time since World War II when it came to reporting on event at home on British soil. If so, then government has acted like a fascist, totalitarian dictatorship reminiscent of the many régimes we defeated in War to ensure our freedoms of speech, assembly, privacy etc.
Keep up the good work, and don't worry - if this page mysteriously disappears in our sleep, I've already posted it to a semi-public forum (Membership only), and to my computer too - just as I did with this blog-page too http://caiwingfield.com/cms/2012/03/police-suppression-of-peaceful-pro-nhs-protest-march-17th-2012/
Keep up the fight and the blogging guys - this Country NEEDS you ;)

Just as I got to Trafalgar Sq the NHS protest came up the road from the south. The lights had changed and the traffic stopped, it looked like there just happened to be the red pig van in the traffic. The lead protesters saw a chance to mess with them and called for back up from the main bit of the march, which caught them up and started holding up the van, while some of the other traffic was able to continue. The pigs with the machine guns just hopped out straight away and started yelling to move everyone on. One protestor tried to sit down in front of the van but even their mates were saying to leave it- it was clearly not the point. The pigs got back in the red van and that went on its own way- it wasn't part of the crew used to systematically hassle the protest, which were the light blue caps.
Being in favour of the right to protest, and the save the NHS cause, I tagged along the protest near a very jolly bicycle sound system, I almost defected to an anti-mugabe scene which we passed, they had some pretty good tunes but stuck with the NHS lot which started to become quite diffuse due to the blue-caps
Eventually I among others ended up being kettled by the blue caps by southampton buildings. I had a feeling something was up- and could see the reflection of a blue light from the top of the street on a window way down the road, even before they trapped everyone in at that spot my boyfriend and I tried to turn and leave, but some pigs basically started pushing us and forced us to carry on into their trap, saying we were being detained there. Demanding grounds, they said potential breach of the peace. I told them to stop pushing me, not least because I'm pregnant, but obviously I didn't want one of them to touch me! A woman in a car tried to pass through the kettle, the pigs let her go, and for a laugh some of the protestors made a big show of following the car out like in a conga line. Some of the pigs really savaged them then, pushing a girl and sending her flying- way over the top. That's when I thought enough's enough and demanded to be released, but a horrible little cretin called 2563 got lippy, saying that I shouldn't have even come to London- don't worry, when they cut the police, he'll be let go, he couldn't have been more than 5 foot tall!! His mate, 2571 suggested I ask the inspector who, fair play, let me and the dad out straight away when I told him I was pregnant.
We left to use the loo nearby but saw a shocking scene of more blue caps arriving- about 3 riot vans full- rubbing their hands together, putting on nazi-style leather gloves, with ENORMOUS truncheons hanging off their belts. We had quite a worrying time trying to catch up with the news on this, but some pictures I've seen today suggest nobody at this scene was brutalised- apart from the heavy handedness that prompted me to leave.
On a side note F*ck the guardian!!!! Their stupid TV ad saying: "the whole picture" W*nkers.

As for Southampton Buildings assault, yes the sheer size of the cop truncheons had to be seen to be believed - they might as well have whacked the poor guy round the shins with a fucking crowbar
