Traveller Solidarity Network Info Tour

Traveller Solidarity Network | 17.03.2012 10:55 | Dale Farm | World

The Traveller Solidarity Network (The direct action Network formed out of the Dale Farm Eviction Resistance) are doing a series of info nights across the country to share their experiences, bring together different activist and Travelling communities and to try and build the work of the Network.

Members of the Traveller Solidarity Network are half way through a month long tour of the UK, giving a series of talks/info nights in a variety of cities to share their experiences from Dale Farm and other Traveller Sites, to bring together activists and people from GRT communities, to help to build the Network of settled and Travelling people in the UK, and to raise awareness about protests and celebrations happening on Roma Nation Day (8th April).

So far the tour has had successful meetings in cities including Bristol, Glasgow, Southampton, and Birmingham, with local actions decided upon and groups beginning to form in some of these cities (In Glasgow for example activists have shared email addresses to talk about how they can work with Roma in the Govan Hill area, and plan to hold some kind of event for Roma Nation Day).

The tour continues over the next two weeks; visiting York, Durham, Bradford, and Sheffield, in the next few days and many other cities soon (for a full list of destinations and to see if the tour is coming to your city see  http://travellersolidarity.org/traveller-solidarity-tour/infotour-dates/)...

Activists organising and speaking on the tour have been writing a blog from the road, which can be found at  http://travellersolidarity.org/traveller-solidarity-tour/blog-from-the/ and details the adventures of the crew.....

How about a meeting in Leeds? I went to quite a big Traveller support meeting at a place called the Space months ago, me and my friend gave our email addresses but have never received any emails. Seems a bad waste of human resources and the enthusiasm that was at that meeting.

Maybe you could drop TSN an email? We'd be interested in getting in touch, theres been an issue with organising a meeting in Leeds so we've not been able to do it this time.
