Swp hijack's workfare protest newcastle

N.E.A | 12.03.2012 03:54 | Workfare | Repression | Sheffield | World

As per normall the swp HIJACK a demonstration in newcastle

Anti cuts activists held a loud and militant protest against workfare on the 3rd of march
the protest had been organized by anti cuts network and others

When arriving at the meeting location we were surprised to see a load of swp stalls in front of the Mc donalds and yunus on the megaphone

the demonstrators decided to move to primark as there first venue much to the annoyance of the swp who played follow us
we got to pri-mark and entered the store to speak to the management
we were refused then along come the swp with there megaphones to try take us back to Mcdonalds activists decided we would go to speak to wh smiths instead soo marched along to whsmiths

we protested for around ten min's and activists went into the store to speak to managements
while this went on SWP michael dixon decided it was a good time to move on and leave activists in the store

people were unaware that we had left some people in the store because of michael dixon of the swp
this left the activists in side in a awkward situation luckily nothing had happened and they left the store soon after

Now for the Swp Photo shoot
the swp thought it would make them look "militant" to go in an have a sit in protest (note yunus or michael did not enter the store) a little bit of pushing and shoving happend by police ejecting the acitvits from Mc donalds and eventually they were forced out

Swp activsts Johny pickering decided it was good time to speak to the press as they had turned up he walked away with the press soo that no one else could be interviewed

 http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/news/north-east-news/2012/03/04/protestors-hit-newcastle-mcdonald-s-79310-30456773/2/

luckily some activists had seen what was going on and stood next to the swp activist and interjecting when he said it was ORGANIZED by the swp and right to work this was not true unfortunately this was not reported in the press and it went down as a swp event again NOT TRUE

the swp had not participated IN ANY of the boycott workfare meetings and decided they would muscle in on the protest to make them look big

A big thanks goes out to all thoes from anti cuts network / fight racism fight imperlialism / north east anarchists / tyneside coalition of resistance and others who participated in the meetings and supported the event from the start (not muscelling in like the swp)

It was a good day loads of leaflets were handed out and bar a little bit of pushing and shoving it was a great day

we even had a applauding speech from a seven year old who was spot on about the cuts

Fighting among ourselves once again

The powers of the State must be laughing their heads off at the pathetic infighting of the UK Left. They don't need to undermine us or send in agents we do it all ourselves.

Shaking my head in disbelieve

“I know a guy who had to work for free, I think it is a case of who wants to do it. I think the scheme is right, our friend had to work for his dole, and I think that is right." - slavery lover

“I think the protest is just a bit too much, especially the one wearing a balaclava, it is like he’s got something to hide, like he knows it’s wrong.” - knee jerk sqruirt squirt

“We are aware people were demonstrating at Northumberland Street across lunchtime on Saturday. It passed with minimal disruption and the group dispersed at around 2.10pm. Everyone has the right to a peaceful protest and we were present to monitor today’s events.” - ONLY TO MONITOR EVENTS, NOTHING ELSE, HONEST

quote "The powers of the State must be laughing their heads off at the pathetic infighting of the UK Left. They don't need to undermine us or send in agents we do it all ourselves."

True enough, but that being said, one needs to remember well, that the Trotskyites and trotskysim in general are the state's agents. They always were and still are. Take a look at history. It tells you everything you need to know about them. They are the official imperialist left, imperialism's useful idiots, spies and sabateors, on the payroll and accepted by imperialism and capitalism. They pose no real threat to the system as they are not revolutionary. They just want capitalism with a comfy, cosy little "c" (meaning capitalism and concessions. Nowhere do they have a program where written into that document it states that the party is dedicated to the revolutionary overthrow of capitalism and its replacement by a socialist system, (i.e, revolutionary violence may be needed in the process) even if only an aka "stalinist" model of one. But they are good at undermining a socialist system abeit if even one which they call "distorted" workers' states. That proves their true intentions. They play around and firt with the Labour Party and hope you get to vote Labour in future elections, therefore they steer people away from revolutionary struggle. All they want is for you to sign their petitions, and sign up to SWP and hand over your money, stay away from"troublestarters" .....then vote Labour.

I can't believe what I'm reading

"Trotskyites and trotskysim in general are the state's agents"

As a life long supporter of Trotskyist political theory (after reading his work why would anybody not be ? ) I am amazed that Anarchists continue to try and push this agenda. Lack of support for their views perhaps ?

Trotskyite

Not state agents, just people with crap politics.

To Trotskyite: As an anarchist, I've never believed Trotskyists are state agents, and I'm really not sure that "trot watch" is actually an anarchist - their comment about "they are good at undermining a socialist system abeit if even one which they call "distorted" workers' states" makes them sound like they might be some kind of Stalinoid. Trots might be *supporters* of various dodgy states, but in the main, barring rare exceptions like Gaddaffi wasting his money on the WRP, the crapness of Trot politics is due to cock-up (i.e. not having any real understanding of capitalism or class struggle), not conspiracy.
As for why anyone who's read Trotsky wouldn't be a supporter of his views, have you even read Terrorism and Communism?  http://www.marxists.org/archive/trotsky/1920/terrcomm/ch08.htm Compulsory labour and the militarisation of the workforce doesn't sound much like workers' power to me.

I remember after J18 (1999), the swp sent a couple of its older members to observe us (Reclaim the Streets) for a few months. They then set up Globalise Resistence as a state friendly copy. The constant demand for 'unity' by the likes of the wannabe-state left in fact weakens us as we are consistantly percieved to be 'all in the same bag' ( and dodgy manipulating scumbags). Distancing ourselves from these shits can do only good.

What's wrong with em?....cult, first line of policing of any dissent, water carriers for the Labour Party, opportunists, no mutuality, squeeze movements and asset strip, incite people to resist and abandon them....they're very good at all this stuff

Read this critique, still accurate after a decade
