At least one hundred national front supporters assembled near Heywood war memorial and spat out racist speeches. There was also fascists outside in the street supporting the rally, local people also gathered and applauded the fascists who were exploiting the case of a group of muslims who were on sex charges.
The national front held one of their biggest rallies within the last several years, there is now a real danger of the national front gaining some popularity with locals on the Muslim sex gangs issue. No doubt the fascists are using the issue to turn into a racist agenda, and even worse the national front have threatened to return to Heywood and march through the town, we cannot allow this to happen. Anti fascists need to get out on the streets and challenge the propaganda put out by fascists, we now need a strong working class anti fascist movement in order to quell support for extreme groups such as the NF and the NWI. So far these groups have been unchallenged, they clearly are not going away and if we allow them to dominate town centres then we are clearly losing the battle against fascism.

Next time the NF/NWI appear somewhere, we need to counter act and mobilise against them, or at the very least we need to communicate with local people and educate them about the nature of the poisonous message promoted by groups like the NF/NWI
