we have just received a report that some of the anti fascists that attended the Liverpool crown court demo have been beaten up by fascists today in Liverpool, there is a republican march today in the city centre, so there will be a number of nazis there to oppose the march. we will keep you posted on updates, but probably there will be more incidents during the day, we urge all anti fascists in Liverpool to be extra vigilant.

I've never understood the lefts support for the IRA. The majority of Northern Irish wish to remain British/UK ruled. If that's what the majority want then why should the IRA try to force change upon them and why do many on the left support it?

Just like to confirm that the Liverpool Republican march was indeed halted today. I've just had a phone call from friends who attended the march, who gave me the details.

Around 200-300 fascists (including EDL supporters) blocked the road, and also fought running confrontations with marchers and stewards along some side streets.

The buses used to transport the flute bands were also damaged.

The fascists involved apparently did not get everything entirely their own way, and some were chased and dealt with.

However, this is certainly no victory for anti-fascism and people have to take their security seriously in the future. Also, this notion that anyone considering themselves an "anti-fascist" will determine not to confront fascists who attack marches they have an ideological difference with is ridiculous. Fascism should be confronted WHEREVER it appears....if they attack Occupy Protests, we should be there....if they attack a Communist Party paper sale, we should be there.....we should give them no room to breathe, whatsoever.
