Traveller Solidarity Network | 08.02.2012 14:23 | Dale Farm | Anti-racism | Policing | Social Struggles

Urgent callout for legal observers to monitor and deter police and bailiff misconduct during a number of forced evictions which may be perpetrated against Traveller, Gypsy and Roma people in the next few weeks.

The Traveller Solidarity Network is urgently seeking volunteer legal observers to help monitor and deter police and bailiff misconduct during a number of forced evictions which may be perpetrated against Traveller, Gypsy and Roma people in the next few weeks. This includes likely further enforcement action against the Irish Traveller community at Dale Farm to force these families from their own land. We know from previous experience that policing of these forced evictions can be oppressive and brutal. Volunteering as a legal observer is an important way to help support these vulnerable communities and those settled people who stand in solidarity with them. Previous experience is not necessary as full training and pre-brief will be given at the meeting – 6.30pm on Tuesday 14th February 2012 in London – that’s next week!! If you are interested please email dalefarmbackoffice(at)riseup(dot)net ASAP, confirming your forthcoming attendance at the meeting and detailing any relevant experience you may have.
