Where was the assault ?

07.02.2012 07:26

Is there another piece of film which has the assault. this only shows the shop keeper taking the camera away from the person filming plus the voice in the film is clearly not of a 15 year old.

Has there been an error and the wrong film been posted ?

All very confusing

If you find it confusing...

07.02.2012 09:28

...then try reading the actual article linked to, which clearly states :

"A 15-year old animal cruelty investigator was inside the pet shop, Animal Magic in Duke Street in Littlehampton when two shopkeepers knocked him to the ground and kicked and punched him in the ribs and stomach.

Following a tip off, the Animal Defence Society Investigations’ Unit investigated Animal Magic in Littlehampton. Animal Magic has a history for cruelty to animals. On this inspection, the investigator was attacked by two male workers. This inspection also highlighted an aviary with mixed breed exotic birds and excrement on the cage floors."

so the article is not (and doesn't claim to be) footage of the 15 year old being attacked.

The world would be a much less confusing place for you if you read articles properly!

No Confusion

looks like the right film to me

Is "all very confusing" the shopkeeper or something? Although the film doesn't show the assault in clear hi-definition detail for your pleasure (not trivial to do when you are being beaten up), there quite obviously is a fracas of some sort. I can easily believe animal abusers are capable of abusing kids too, it is a well-documented link. It sounds very reasonable that the voice could be a 15-year-old.

Sounds like some pet shop owner is shitting themselves, and rightly so.

Animals should be living free and wild, not bred or captured for people's amusement.

The original point I made still stands

07.02.2012 10:34

There is no film of an assault, just that of a camera being taken away from the film maker, the voice is clearly not of a 15 year old. Claims that this is an "assault" are just that - claims. I can't see any evidence to back up what is claimed in the article.
The suggestion that I am the shopkeeper is clearly ridiculous.

There is enough made up stuff on Indymedia without claims like this that do not stand up to analysis.

Still confused

Claims without evidence are always worrying.

"when two shopkeepers knocked him to the ground and kicked and punched him in the ribs and stomach."

or

"The film-maker launched a number of kicks against shop staff forcing them to defend themselves and eject the person from the shop"

This film could support both the above claims.

See how easy it is ?

I recognise this film

07.02.2012 11:54

This film is from 2009 and features an activist who I am sure she will not mind be saying is some distance from 15 years old ! There was no attack, this is the film of her being pushed out of the shop and her iPhone being messed with.

I have no idea why this group has chosen to appropriate the film for their campaign but I suggest they stop.

Recogniser

aggressive shits

Wouldn't like to be a creature in their shop! If you open a shop, you come under public scrutiny. What's the difference in fifty people coming in to look or one person filming and allowing 49 others to see it too?
Well done camera activist.

geek patrol

07.02.2012 16:36

that kid reminds me of typical star trek/world of warcraft geeks who are really annoying.
yeah pet shops always seem to constantly run by chav psycos, but the that geek kid needs a slap.

"ok i will leave, will you just stop saying leave?" haha what a prick.

jib jab

re: geek patrol

You seem to be rather too familiar with Star Trek and WoW culture... I'm not sure how inspecting a pet shop has anything at all to do with being a geek?

As for not leaving immediately - it's called putting animal abusers under pressure and letting them know people are looking out for the animals.

I would be careful about advocating violence - you can never be too careful in this day and age when people joking about rioting get locked up for years. What if I said people who traffic in live animals need a good slap for the suffering they are responsible for?

The current fad for "exotic" animals leads to hideous suffering - people buy them on a whim and then get bored with all the upkeep, or else can't afford all the heating and other stuff you need. Not to mention the wild-caught ones that die in shipping. Well hopefully this fad will be over soon and places like this will go bust (or at least stop selling animals).

Well

08.02.2012 11:55

You don't have the right to film if you are asked to stop and leave then you leave, simple. You can be removed by force if you refuse.

Not impressed.
