Gate St Nearr Saltley Gate Roundabout (note we cannot assemble at the actual gate of the coke depot at the other end of Saltley viaduct because of traffic and accessibility issues)
Speakers from the Strike & Current Struggles
& performance by Banner Theatre
We are commemorating the day that 30,000 Birmingham Trade Unionists went on strike in support of the National Union of Mineworkers in their bid for fair pay. https://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/birmingham/2012/01/491612.html
15,000 engineering workers picketed to close the gates of the last remaining open fuel depot - Saltley.
The blockade forced police to close the gates.
