TRAGEDY IN LIECESTER SQUARE

StandUpTragedy | 25.01.2012 00:06 | Culture | Other Press | Social Struggles

Stand Up Tragedy at Leicester Square Theatre.

Stand Up Tragedy is a new monthly part cabaret, part variety show at Leicester Square Theatre, 6 Leicester Place, London, WC2H 7BX. This new night features great performers who will make you sad, make you think and make you smile. Expect music, comedy, true stories and more, all playing up to the tragic form but not taking it too seriously. The night will end, not with a whimper, not with a bang, but with a cathartic sing-a-long.

Brought to you by Sony Radio Award nominated writer, musician and performer Dave Pickering. This monthly show features performances by Alison Thea-Skot ("An absolute tour-de-force" BBC Comedy), Blue Peter’s Steve Mould, Tony Hickson from EastEnders.

Also on the bill are Helen Arney and Matt Parker, who run the Festival of the Spoken Nerd, together with Steve Mould. Festival of the Spoken Nerd is a national sold-out comedy variety night ( http://festivalofthespokennerd.com/). Not to mention that both, Helen Arney and Matt Parker are regular guests on Radio 4's Infinite Monkey Cage.

Furthermore, we have Tania Hershman (author of “The White Road and Other Stories”), Liars’ League, Emily Lewsen and Radcliffe Royds (Spark London), MJ Hibbett, Richard Tyrone Jones, Vanessa Gebbie and many more.

The show dates are 6th February, 5th March, 2nd April, 7th May, and 4th June. The live show will be recorded and released as a free weekly podcast at www.standuptragedy.co.uk and through iTunes.

Tickets £10 available from 08448 733433 or online at www.standuptragedy.co.uk
