Despite numerous attempts by the production team to contact EDL leader Tommy Robinson for a pre-arranged interview, he bottled it and hardcore racist and violent football hooligan, Jeff Marsh, was allowed on air to put the EDL's side across, despite Marsh being Welsh and claiming to be living in Manchester.

Jeff Marsh aka Jo Marsh was a well known figure in the Cardiff City Soul Crew and was involved in hundreds of battles and street-fights and was jailed 3 times for violence, including a two year sentence for stabbing two Manchester United fans.

He has also had books written about him. One review on Amazon stated:

First of all, Marsh doesn’t even attempt to come across as a pleasant character but rather a small minded racist thug (Reference to black people as “darkies” Asians as “Bombay Bad-Boys” Driving their “Quickie Mart-Mobile”) Who runs with fellow small minded thugs who spend most of their spare time attacking rival fans (Hooligans or otherwise he openly admits to attacking normal fans) Club bouncers, left wing protesters, taxi drivers pretty much anyone he meets. He openly admits to carrying Stanley knives and other assorted weapons and using them at will.

Marsh is also member of the Casuals, the EDL's football hooligan division who were part of the group that went to Whitechapel to fight local Muslims last weekend after their poorly attended Barking demo and repeatedly threaten the Muslin community on their Facebook page.

Their foray into Whitechapel ended badly when one of them was hospitalised with serious head injuries after local teamed up to keep them away from attacking East London Mosque.

He has previously threatened the Guardian's Matthew Taylor stating that he would like to see the journalist wearing 'concrete wellies'

Marsh was immediately shot down by presenter Jim Davis when he tried to use the Rhea Page case as a reason for the demonstration.

Marsh was also asked why as a Welsh national, he was involved in the English Defence League. He stated that there was no Welsh Defence League.

There was a Welsh Defence League set up by Marsh but it was later found to be riddled with neo Nazis and was disbanded, only after a BBC Wales undercover investigation exposed them.

After his telephone interview many callers were upset that BBC Radio Leicester had given this violent thug air time.

We at EDL News would like to point out the irony of a convicted football thug going on local radio to claim the EDL march will not be violent especially in light of the last time they visited Leicester then they attacked a restaurant full of women and children and have to ask where Tommy was and if Marsh is the new spokesman for the 'non-racist' EDL?
