Illegal eviction of Democracy Village at Parliment

In memory of Brian Haw | 18.01.2012 10:49

Police and hired thugs have wrecked all articles of protest at the parliament square Democracy Village this morning. Three people who tried to stop the agents of state repression were viciously beaten and verbally abused.

All tents, placards, signs and personal items were simply thrown into the backs of vans and driven away to what we were told was a "place of safe storage", repeated requests to know where and what this is are met with laughter and no replies.

Activist are a little confused as to what will happen next but rented thugs are there now stopping any attempt to retake the space and are even moving on (illegally) tourists stopping to take photos !

A security hut is being constructed on the square which looks very permanent and seems to indicate the beginning of a full time guarded square in the future.

We remember Brian Haw, we remember all those killed by Britain's wars of terror.
