Demonstration in London in Solidarity with Bulgarian Anti-Fracking Protests

Mass mobilisations against fracking in at least 12 cities in Bulgaria on Saturday brought thousands of people out onto the streets to protest against the plans to bring the practice of hydraulic fracturing for shale gas to the country. Solidarity demonstrations organised by Bulgarian expatriates were held in several other European cities including Paris, Copenhagen and London.

In Bulgaria thousands marched in the capital Sofia and other cities across the country carrying banners denouncing fracking and telling the US energy giant Chevron to "go home". Chevron was granted a permit last June by the Bulgarian government to explore for shale gas in Dobrudzha region in northeastern Bulgaria, which is one of the country's main agricultural regions of Bulgaria. Since then the movement against fracking in Bulgaria has been growing with increasingly larger protests. Hundreds protested against fracking in Sofia in December.

In London around 60 Bulgarians, supported by British anti-fracking campaigners, turned on a chilly winter's evening to show support for the struggle against fracking in Bulgaria, with a candlelit vigil. The practice of hydraulic fracturing, pumping millions of gallons of water, sand and toxic chemical into the ground under massive pressure to shatter the rocks and release trapped gas, has been linked to a string of environmental problems including water contamination and earthquakes in addition to exasabating climate change.

A strong movement against shale gas extraction, and other extreme energy practices such as coal bed methane (CBM) and underground coal gasification (UCG), has been growing across the world as the threats it poses to communities and the environment have become clear. In the UK resistance to fracking has taken off in the last few months with strong local campaigns in Lancashire, South Wales and Sussex. The top management of fracking company Cuadrilla Resources were mauled by local residents in a public meeting on Wednesday in the Sussex village of Balcombe.

Is not fracking a source of Aggressive War Against Nature?

15.01.2012 18:34

As the anti-fascist international laws are against the Supreme Crime on Earth, which is described in the Nuremburg Trials, as Aggressive War if should be applied to Fracking and the terrible pollution and earthquakes that it causes. It seems that we must begin more fully to understand that the Industrial Assault against nature in all fields done by the fossil fuel burn-out of oxygen in the atmosphere (already 38% gone) is in fact an Aggressive War that threatens all life, and the laws of the anti-fascist covenants be used to end this form of exploitation of the worlds organic web-of-life.

The total disregard of the liberation side of the second world war, and the use of private profits to pollute for money, is in fact a serious war crime. It ought to be said that way in the laws of the land. One other thing that needs to be addressed is the need to restore the peasant class that understands the Dialectics of Nature. Especially is that so in the Western Imperialist Countries where one machine was used to kick thousands of people from the land, and thusly the culture of nature and its laws were lost.

That is evident in the 'race to the bottom' that is taking place all around us. We need to bring in a campaign of 'back to the land' which was done in a small way in the sixties. It is the absolute height of stupidity to 'frack in an agricultural zone', the very zone that the whole society needs for support of the very food that it lives on day after day. The need there is for agicultural organic communes so the peasants can end poisoning of the land against weeds, and chemical drops that burn out the organic matter from the soils.

Workers of the world, unite!! Protect Mother Earth before its too far gone by pollution and aggressive war. Re-tool to the renewables, and restore the matriarchy by electing women equally, (natures gender parity laws of 50-50 electing upheld by the worlds'
trade unions) thusly doubling at all levels the democracy throughout the world, and especially in the Western Imperial States of Europe. This is because the matriarchy has been suppressed since the Roman Slaveholders Empire destroyed, and enslaved the women and the entire working classes. Mother Earth needs renewal not militarization to chemical and poison burn-out.
