Oh no, they should be stopped from going to McDonalds!

That's what campaigns/petitions against a McDonalds opening are about, stopping McDonalds opening people can't eat there.

The dangers of 'choice' and 'consumer demand' are already well recognised.

McDonalds is a vile place where millions of tons of dead animal flesh are sold every year, the world does not need another one and sod what the local people think.

There are some issues where the views of the majority are not the right ones, there are situations where a well informed and politically educated minority are required to make the decisions for the wider benefit.

Come on people, stay on the ball - "McObvious" is obviously trolling you, and you fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Trolling does seem especially prevalent on animal rights stories. I'm not sure if it is paid shills or (even sadder) people shilling for free for ideological reasons.

Despite all the work McDonalds sales are up everywhere

30.12.2011 11:00

Despite the multi-year campaigns against McDonalds in the UK and other countries the reality is that their sales continue to increase and there is demand for their products.

For example its third-quarter profit rose 9% to $1.51 billion, or $1.45 a share, compared to $1.39 billion, or $1.29 a share a year ago. Total revenues rose 14% to $7.17 billion, compared to $6.30 billion a year ago. Analysts polled by FactSet Research had expected the company to earn $1.43 a share, on revenue of $7.02 billion. The firm also said global same-store sales rose 5%, with the U.S. up 4.4%, Europe up 4.9% and Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa up 3.4%, in the third quarter.

This McDonalds will open because clearly people want to eat at a McDonalds making this campaign a modern day King Canute.

Not that surprised

Thanks for having the courage to say this. McDonalds is a perfect example of a company that should not exist despite the wishes of the majority to eat there.

Presumably MacDonalds isn't breaking any laws here

Why target them and not target ALL food outlets equally?
I think you are just picking on McDoanlds because you don't like them
