Not Guilty | 14.12.2011 16:42 | Culture | Education | Policing | Repression
Poem performed on steps of court by a PROTESTER found NOT GUILTY OF VIOLENT DISORDER ON DEC 9TH 2010. Jury only took forty mins to clear him.
Please drop any stereotypes,
Of what you may think i'm like,
All that I ask,
Is you use your own gift of flight.
Not tainted perceptions,
Dividing society into sections,
Alienating the youth,
Then forcing Corrections.
I am not
'Young coloured male,
From the rough streets of london',
With some hatred for the police,
That he refused to run from.
Like You, I'm a child of the planet,
And a sibling to Humanity.
I've just decided a stand,
Not playing along with the worlds insanity.
I refuse to perpetuate,
All this apathy and hate,
Just to stay in line,
With the standards state.
My education is not institutionalised,
I study life with my own 3 eyes.
And in my 20 years, of living on this planet,
I've encountered many of the cracks that span it.
So I've traced them back,
Like veins to the Heart,
To find the source,
Of whats torn us apart.
We've built Empires,
on shifting sands,
For the few, by the many,
With enslaved hands.
whether the chains be made,
of Iron or fear,
These days we're tamed,
by debt rather than spears.
But enslaved non the less,
We dug ourselves into a mess.
See Just for the sake of correlation with the norm,
We've left a heavy bill for our unborn,
I'll not punish my kids, just to conform,
I STAND here today, to shield them from the storm.
I won't look them in the eyes,
And feed them lies,
Hope they'll be satisfied,
With an "At least i tried."
For Real change,
We need to Re-arrange,
the order of society.
To preserve life,
We need to sacrifice,
The greed of luxury.
I'm making the shift,
For those who don't yet exist,
Like Gandhi, Im starting with me.
