Occupy London stock exchange camp coming under increasing night time attack
Defend Occupy LSX | 10.12.2011 16:44
There has been a big increase in the number of late night attacks by drunken bankers on the occupy London stock exchange camp outside St Paul's Cathedral. Most of these attacks occur between 1am and 3am in the morning at weekends when local late night bars close.
We need far more people there at night to defend the camp, especially now as the police presence outside the camp has been drastically reduced to almost nothing. People staying there are going to get seriously injured or even killed if the attacks on the camp are not stopped.

he was nicked on nov 30th leaving the bank of ideas. nobody told him a section 30 meant he would be searched as soon as he stepped outside, and nobody turned up court to support him. that seems to me to be what matters.

Sorry to hear but....

If no-one wanted to go along, it's maybe that he hasn't built up friendly enough relationships in his life.
But hey, you reap what you sow, innit.

solidarity means
11.12.2011 01:52
solidarity should never be the prize in a popularity contest. it should be there for all who struggle alongside us, who work with us in projects and actions, to all of the 99% not just the "cool" and popular ones.
i was not there to support him, i was in court myself and met him there while waiting to go in.
why are you making excuses for this shit behaviour? how you can you possibly justify letting someone get sent down without support?

When under attack, then self defense is acceptable , even admirable. I believe that one is also within one's rights to defend another person from assault.

Isn't this what you guys wanted???!
No you got it - you are complaining? Make your minds up.
Also,
Why should someone have told 'Tom' about the section 30.

The camp is in it for the long run.
The camp is not costing the tax-payer or local businesses money.
The media never care about anything save what makes them a profit, they have simply moved onto something else that is profitable.
Sally, who is Tom what was he arrested for and why are you complaining about this here?
In any movement you are expected to stand on your own two feet and you are expected to fight your own corner. You can't simply get arrested and then expect everybody and their dog to drop what they are doing and run to your rescue.
Sally, we are not fucking amateurs and we are not here for shits and giggles. We are serious.
Go and complain somewhere else.

No, that's not okay

Any movement which aims to be sustainable needs to support its prisoners and arrestees. Arrest/legal support structure is an important part of any movement and something that does need to be taken seriously if you don't want to end up losing lots of people.

been involved in protest since 1999, previous poster is right. you stand on your own two feet.

I'm sure you'll feel the same way when you get nicked and no one has your back either. Prisoner support is an important consideration for any movement that takes itself seriously.
"we are not fucking amateurs and we are not here for shits and giggles. We are serious." could've fooled me...
