The workers kept the tune but added new words, because after the civil war the Bluecoats, were called out to crush the workers when they were striking for workers Unions, and the recognition of them. The president then ordered the soldiers to shoot the workers on the picket lines, and large numbers were killed. Solidarity Forever was born on such unity and struggles. Workers of the World, Unite!! You have a world to win.

That video claims that millions of public sector workers went on strike on November the 30th. But in reality only 1.3 million went on strike out of about 4 million public sector workers. So the strike was hardly a success at all. Furthermore the government is refusing to back down over cuts, tuition fees and pension cuts. This is going to be the biggest defeat for the left since the 1984 miners strike.
