Italy and the end of representative democracy

One thing the papers seem to be as one refusing to comment on or even report, is the fact that an unelected group has been handed control of the country. Economist and new ruler of Italy Mario Monti has not been elected to rule and the Italian public has in no way endorsed the technocratic model, Monti, or his cronies.

It is in the interest of everybody in the general public that this simple piece of information spreads. The corporate media have a staggering power to airbrush inconvenient little pieces of information of out history. The rhetoric of the ruling classes about democracy, autonomy and people power is falling flat. The myth is being laid bare, that western liberal democracies are anything more than a cover. In the heart of central Europe, a new dictator is consolidating his power. Will we realise this in time?
