Daily Mail admits OLSX "speak for England"

After a week of dirty tricks against Occupy London Stock Exchange protests, The Daily Mail have finally (albeit grudgingly) admitted OLSX protestors "speak for England", because "the majority of people... would almost certainly agree that the authorities are much to blame for not prosecuting any of the bankers whose reckless and sometimes illegal actions led to the wrecking of western economies and the destruction of millions of livelihoods".

Following on from The Daily Telegraph's admission that banks are "greedy, stupid and wicked", and after a week of dirty tricks against Occupy London Stock Exchange protests, The Daily Mail have finally (albeit grudgingly) admitted OLSX protestors "speak for England", because "the majority of people probably wouldn’t describe themselves as anti-capitalist... but they would almost certainly agree that the authorities are much to blame for not prosecuting any of the bankers whose reckless and sometimes illegal actions led to the wrecking of western economies and the destruction of millions of livelihoods".

That such a pillar of the hard-right media as The Daily Mail has conceded the establishment's lost this debate marks a potentially decisive turning-point. The Daily Mail is disingenuous to pretend however that if OLSX protestors "went quietly now, some of us might still raise half a cheer", because, far from OLSX alienating the public from their own cause, it is the hard-right press (Daily Telegraph, Daily Express, Daily Mail etc) who fought tooth-and-nail to alienate the public from OLSX; and of course OLSX protestors have (despite The Mail's supercilious tone) "the wit to know" that British people are sick to death of being robbed by bankers - if they didn't already know this they wouldn't be there in the first place!

Daily Mail hack Stephen Glover repeats the libelous and wildly misleading comparison between OLSX and the Blitz that failed to close St Paul's, to draw attention away from the comparisons everyone else is making - between OLSX and Jesus throwing money-lenders out of the temple! Glover lies through his teeth in pretending that OSLX has "been persecuting those who want to worship in (St Paul's) cathedral", because he knows OLSX was forced to move from its intended protest site by the Police, and he knows the Cathedral's re-opening proves St Paul's never needed to close in the 1st place.

In a classic piece of tabloid smear campaigning, after 2 weeks of trawling Facebook to dig-dirt on OLSX protestors, a separate Daily Mail report also shows they've finally found... shock, horror... ONE millionaire's son among OLSX protestors, conveniently ignoring the hundreds of other protestors. As for the smear campaign about OLSX campers leaving their tents (to take showers and feed their pets etc), Stephen Glover knows that thermal imaging cameras don't see people in sleeping bags, because sleeping bags stop heat escaping - so, lacking the nerve to stand by his employer's own lies, he attributes these allegations to "reports in the media", in preference to admitting that The Daily Mail dedicated whole pages to repeating these fabricated allegations.

Stephen Glover may be right to say that it would have been "better to have occupied a government run bank, whose best paid inmates are still pocketing vast bonuses, or to have pitched their tents somewhere in Westminster, where our (sic) ruling class appears remarkably unmoved by public revulsion at the banks", but, as it happens, the happy accident of the enforced dialogue between anti-capitalism and Christianity has reaped unexpected benefits in terms of public debate about the indefensible immorality of Grand Theft Capitalism. Jesus was the first Socialist, and OLSX has already outrun the worst The Daily Mail hacks have been able to throw at it. If OLSX protestors aren't beaten-up by the Metropolitan Police over the weekend, next week promises to be very interesting.
