FLORIDA CITIES PROCLAIM YOUTH FOR HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

“We are all born free and equal” is a human right, but unfortunately, not all people are treated equally in every corner of the globe. In fact, there is some form of discrimination, slavery or injustice no matter where we look. It may be in forms of bullying, human trafficking, hunger or lack of education, but there are human rights violations every day.

Youth for Human Rights Florida volunteers educate both in and out of the classroom about the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights so that other youth will be inspired to create equality.

In support of this campaign, mayors from the cities of Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Saint Petersburg, Orlando and Boca Raton, have been signed proclamations. Each of the proclamations acknowledged the work and dedication of the YHRF volunteers, saying, “Throughout the State of Florida volunteers with Youth for Human Rights Florida dedicated their time to helping people of all ages become advocates of tolerance and peace.”

Youth for Human Rights Florida, a chapter of Youth for Human Rights International, is a secular non-profit organization that offers free youth-oriented materials to educators, which includes a simple to understand DVD explaining the 30 Human Rights, created in collaboration with the Human Rights Department of the Church of Scientology International.
