Telegraph & Daily Mail OLSX smear based on "rubbish science"

14:25 | 27.10.2011 13:29 | Culture | Public sector cuts | Repression

A military scientist specialising in camouflage and thermal imaging techniques has confirmed that The Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail claims smearing OLSX are based on "rubbish science"; while Daily Express hack Matt Wilkinson ( matt.wilkinson@express.co.uk) has libeled OLSX protestors as "a rabble who succeeded where Hitler failed" and launched an extraordinary smear campaign against OLSX protesting ex-Tory councillor Robin Smith -

First The Daily Telegraph lied - pretending that Met Police helicopters had taken thermal images which showed 90% of OLSX tents are empty overnight, until the Police themselves revealed they had no knowledge of The Telegraph's invented claims. Not to be outdone by minor inconveniences like the truth, The Telegraph and Daily Mail then took their own thermal images, allegedly of the OLSX camp, allegedly taken at night, allegedly showing what were at best only small numbers of empty tents amid the much larger protests. These allegations therefore proved NOTHING, but now a military scientist specialising in camouflage and thermal imaging techniques has confirmed that The Daily Telegraph and Daily Mail images are based on "rubbish science"...

If you want to see just how scared the establishment is of the OLSX protests, Daily Express hack Matt Wilkinson has run an extraordinary attack on OLSX protestor and ex-Tory councillor Robin Smith, camping outside Robin Smith's home amid banners that read "Give us back St Paul's" - despite the fact that St Paul's never needed to close in the first place, and despite the fact St Paul's is probably opening again tomorrow anyway.

Libelling OLSX protestors as "a rabble who succeeded where Hitler failed" - for the crime of trying to defend a Welfare State created by Britons in response to the suffering of WW2, Matt Wilkinson further ridiculed Robin Smith for the crime of popping home from time-to-time to take a shower! It's debatable whether Robin gives a damn about this moron camping outside his home, since he was perfectly happy to have his name and photo revealed to all his neighbours in the national press anyway, but this report shows the sheer hysteria of an establishment that knows it's cornered as the chickens finally come home to roost. Have a word -  matt.wilkinson@express.co.uk - but be polite ;)

Meanwhile Occupy protestors in Oakland are being shot with baton rounds.

Lives in Cambridge?

Journalist for a national news agency and occasionally allowed to play with the big boys in London.

Attached "wacky" picture of him dressed as "octoman".

Any more snooping we can do into his personal life? We must be able to come up with more, these kind of people just love to promote themselves and blow their own trumpets online.

Leave family OUT of it

27.10.2011 16:23

I've got no issue with people digging dirt on corrupt journalists, but leave their kids OUT of it.....

1/ it's immoral
2/ it could backfire badly

If you get dirt on these people get REAL dirt - photos of their family members aren't dirt

Obvious with hindsight

27.10.2011 16:27

I guess that's obvious with hindsight, thermal imaging cameras don't "see" people in sleeping bags, because sleeping bags are designed to STOP heat leaking out

Winnebago

nothing to say it is family members

just a picture he has "tweeted" - could be about a news story he was writing for all I know

anyway, a) he noses into other people's personal lives and b) he posted it publicly, it's not like he doesn't want people to see it.

actually I think it is Small World News Service, not South West.
